Dear Nikki, I do agree that taking notes of conversations and lectures in the speaking section of the TOEFL exam is challenging. Yet, you could use certain techniques to make it easier and more efficient for you. Firstly, you could create a personalized shorthand system or use symbols for common words and phrases. As a result, you will be able to jot down key points quickly without losing track of the conversation or lecture. Secondly, pay close attention only to the main ideas and supporting details instead of trying to transcribe everything. This would allow you to capture the essential information needed for your responses without feeling overwhelmed. Finally, practice summarizing the information in your own words immediately after listening. This will reinforce your understanding and help you recall details more accurately during the speaking section.
