Even to this day when Gordon is cooking with someone who is evidently much more skilled and experienced than him in cooking a particular dish (e.g. local/national delicacy), he easily shifts to student mode - observing, listening, asking questions and taking mental notes. Truly both a student and a teacher, an apprentice and a master, at the same time, all the time.
