Thank you for sharing your story! I’m currently doing a project on the people who were part of the Windrush generation, but I can’t find anyone’s story of how they came here. Can you tell me more about him, or anyone else?

Humans are identified as intelligent animals and if so is there transgender among animals? I have toured various parks but I have never seen a transgender chimpanzee or baboon, it either female or male and this is proven biologically. Where did we go wrong? Is it that our intelligence created extra identities?

No they were never invited know what they wanted. Nobody blames them for wanting a better life it’s the Notting Hill carnival this week people are boarding at their houses shops in preparation Same are going on holiday for safety reasons. There is nothing wrong with looking for a better life but it is wrong to devastate the community that you’re moving to. Let’s hope there’s not too many people murdered this year or beaten up.

  • @Youmanity

"devastate the community that you’re moving to". What about the devastation and genocide committed by the British Empire?? And, YES, people from the Caribbeans were invited to come to work in the UK. Please see Charles Gomm setting up camp in Barbados to recruit people for London Transport in 1956. Same happened for the NHS, the coal industry and all other sectors lacking manpower in the UK

This poem was part of the corpus I worked with in my professional practice (that's what theses are called in my university) to become a translator. The theme was translating Benjamin Zephaniah's dub poetry for a research paper that an English Literaure teacher was writing.

*RENAMING/REDEFINING SEX/GENDER TERMS* Here's an idea, why don't we just switch over gender terms to something like astrology? If you think about it the terms "female", "woman", "women" have the opposite sex stigma by having the terms attached to their gender. I propose an official alternative: Females could be called lunas (luna as in lunar as in moon in latin because the moon is a representation of feminine energy). Males could be referred to as "sols" (sol as in solar as in sun in latin because the sun represents masculine energy). This way each sex/gender would have their own unique identity and not have to worry about stepping on each other's toes/being dependent on the other to be identified with. =) For transgirls you can have stellas (stella means star in latin) For transguys/boys you can have meteors (self explanatory) In the laws of yin and yang and even wicca males/sols are typically represented by; fire, chaos and the sun. Where as females/lunas are typically represented by; water, calmness and the moon. Polar opposites. You're welcome.

This shit is so wildly inaccurate its funny.... you literally copied another video word for word and adopting the overall idea that colonialism is the cause of everything is just an idiotic cop out for the more difficult discussions that need to take place in our society. "Blame the white men" cant be applied to everything, sorry.

  • @maceface

Im not saying that North American Indian cultures, Indian Cultrues and Pilipino cultures didn't have these beliefs, but saying that colonialism is the cause of Male and Female Gender roles is stupid and wrong.

Absolute nonsense! They were not 'invited' to come and 'help rebuild Britain'; - what would the Government's rationale have been for this when thousands of ex-servicemen were coming home to mass unemployment due in part to women entering the workforce during the war years. They were simply taking advantage of cheap passages advertised by the ship's owners, and recently relaxed laws, to come to Britain to make better lives for themselves. Copies of the original newspaper advert still exist. The accounts of the Windrush passengers make no mention ever of any promises of work, or indeed of being invited here. In fact the British Government knew nothing about it until the ship had docked. Indeed Hansard records from the time show that on 21st September 1948 there was an emergency meeting of Parliament, to discuss what to do about the sudden influx , the legalities of preventing any further ships from leaving Jamaica or docking in England and whether it was possible to discourage any more from making the journey. The conclusion was that 'As long as the Government is informed of any future arrivals of these people then we will do our very best to place them as we have done in this instance.'. That does not sound like an 'invite' to come to Britain. British organisations such as London Transport and the a local Health Authority DID advertise in Jamaica for staff to cover severe shortages but this was over a decade later and nothing to do with the Government.

I am a retired primary school teacher and find the cartoon interesting in that it includes the views of different cultures regarding gender. These give gender fluidity a historical dimension for people who believe we are all either completely male or completely female and anything in between doesn’t exist.

Unfortunately, as a daily commuter on the DLR, I find the stickers that block the windows inside the carriages irritating - they block the wonderful views of the modern architecture around Canary Wharf, the glorious morning sunrises from the East and glimpses of the little canals and quays as you ride into Bank. The ridiculous plastered images of the countryside make me disorientated and nauseous (taller passengers rely on top sections of windows to see out. Mindfulness is a fantastic method to control ones emotions and focus the mind, but it can be attempted while closing ones eyes and does not require blocking out the views of everyone else. With all due respect to the efforts put into this campaign, which focuses on a genuinely important issue, if it were up to me, I would immediately take these silly posters/stickers down and unwind the campaign.

No one is opposed to ppl of all races or sexes (or whatever) making a good case for looking at history in a new and valuable way. Modern race activism isn't helpful or constructive, it is intentionally disruptive and destructive. We can all work together to understand ourselves and world in ever more illuminating ways but modern race and sex critical activism ain't it.
