The Carnival is not the only non-stationary domain. Cyre 1313 lightning rail from Eberron derailed and took alot of passengers with it. Its the only domain created through a massive disaster. Its travels around ravenloft unhindered on its ghost rails.
I play echo knight in descent into Avernus campaign. We are in hell and I’m a bender (something like a monk class from DnD Shorts book) multiclass. So with that I use my echo as a part of my soul that I found in one of the soulcoins. Since my character is cursed tree-like humanoid, my echo resembles his look before he was cursed 🙂
I would make the kraken an ancient arch druid who became one with the sea centuries ago. Probably make them nonbinary too. Add in them being known as a legend by underwater civilizations, that thought they were a really powerful arch druid fighting off monsters, but teally they were the monster fighting other sea monsters. Have them be able to absorb the spirits of creatures to be able to change into them. Add in a acient underwater city which they now use as a prison for some of the most evil sentient beings in all of the world. Make them use to be the protector of that city, until a great calamity hit, like a elder evil starts opening a portal in a crack near the city that the druid was to scared to do anything about, and that is why they protect the entire ocean now. Let us call them Rayn Tempest, Gaurdian of the sea. They could also be known for dealing with sea gods and underwater civilizations, making sure there is peace in the ocean. The players could have the option of even becoming their apprentices, to replace them one day.
I know that opening part in the noisy factory was supposed to be fun and quirky but it made me want to click off.
Also an added idea, living houses, outgrown plants that help protect the owners, as in a symbiotic relationships. And have people communicate through the wood wide web, using myceleum.
family echo knight: It’s just your twin
I’m currently playing a Ghost in the Machine (Modern UA) warlock, who created their patron. Sure, they do have to appease their A.I (it is sentient after all), but they do get to hack stuff extra good (through the A.I just getting into those systems, and doing whatever needs to get done).
Aweeeesome video!! Thanks for covering DC20 🎉
Some awesome ideas here. Though you kind of danced around one in particular I was pondering myself.. I've always liked the idea of playing a proper dragon, but not for the power-factor, but just how different adventuring would be from the perspective of say, a 10 year old, small dragon. While the monsters-as-a-class aren't a built in feature for 5e, it occurred to me you could do mostly the same thing by taking artificer, where your abilities in armorer are just your physical (and magical) body maturing and getting more powerful. It's not a perfect fit, obviously, but there's many ways to get the effect of a breath weapon, or even just a smaller, more rapid fire with the stealthier armor version.
I think it was discontinued more for it not selling well. It had its fans (I'm one), but it was SUPER different from any other setting.
I was sent here by the Hat. I wasn't expecting deep rhetorical questions like "what is the Kraken to you?"
@@kdavidsmith1 and yet ... A good question 😎
@@TheClericCorner it is a question with unfathomable depth.
Quick correction Teslapunk is actually closer to steampunk than atompunk. The aesthetic is mostly inspired by victorian are architecture and is therefore not too similar in overall style.
4:45 the main issue with this in 5e is that warlocks dont channel magic directly from their patron. Theyre being taught these things and the patron cant exactly take them away!
I like the idea of the suckers being like leech mouths, but if I'm allowed to complete make up a creatures form... give me a island sized sea turtle shell back, with abalone shell belly plates, back flippers of the turtle or barnacle covered whale, with the eyes and mouth parts of a crab at the front of the shell (with maybe tentacle tongues with suckers that have jellyfish sting cells, and a spade tip with leech mouths at the end), and along the front edge of the shell to either side of the crab 'face' are anemone tentacles. maybe have more variants in number of eyes like spiders, and coloration and patterning like anemones and poison dart frogs. i can imagine larval versions up to titanic monsters.
This looks badass
Dude, that intro was hilarious
Hey I wanted to look at the race with 3 minds in one body for kalashatar reflavor bit i cant get the right spelling for it. 😢😢😢
Could you spell it for me so I can find it
My favorite is probably the Absorber but that could just be that both a) I've always loved Kirby, and b) the Wither Storm lives rent free in my head
Are you familiar with hunter hunter? I feel like the nen combat system would be so sick to play in d&d
This isn't earth. It's a made up land. There can be anything on these planets. It's silly to outlaw things on a fantasy world based off of real world issues.
Yay for Goth Kraken!
I love it that you are homebrewing the ultimate homebrewer! :) Thanks for making DC20 content. I have subscribed hoping for more in future.
My artificer is half gnome half tiefling Her name is Navia Lockwood, she’s bubbly, spunky and has a habit of causing chaos (loves explosives) also got a toad familiar named Spud
Thanks!!
Great Stuff!!! I love incorporating mythology and history in my D&D worlds. It helps break out of the Greyhawk/Forgotten Realms lore.
Conservationist ranger is super cool idea
I am the hex blade. Well, i am the fractured reincarnation of an obyrith Sibrithih stuffed in a corpse.
I assume if you evaluate a lot of modern krakens this way, DND isn’t even the worst one.
@@nettlesandsnakes9138 this for sure! Lol
I've been making my Hexblade to act similarly to a jedi, mage hand, super jump ability, but also lawful good dude that comes from a healthy family and is trying to help his friends go on adventures. GM has let me just think the Patron is just a voice I hear from time to time "Thanks creepy voice in my head! If you need help sounding less creepy we can workshop that a bit! You're loved too!"
I use this subclass as a 2 lvl dip for a Sun Soul monk to get a "kamehaha" at a pb/day rate. really adds to the dbz flavor
Pretty sure this thing, or at least its tentacles, have a cameo in Stephen King's "The Mist".
Love the Vampire Kraken idea. I did a video for the Bone Kraken (in the undead theme too)
@@HeraldofHelios perhaps they go toe to toe!
Also, a bloodsucker does not need to be undead. There are plenty of creatures that drink blood in nature. Imagine the shock a cleric will experience when it mistakenly tries to turn a living creature that drinks blood.
Leeches and lampreys come to mind, while also conjuring the idea of a very messed up ttrpg.
I think telling your audiencethat the should not suggest you in the comments to play another system is … not good … I GM Blades in the Dark at the moment. I love the game. I use it for everything, not just heists, so I am on your side. But the intro of your video made me feel a little less welcome. There are very little Blades in the Dark, so I have to watch DnD content for the system agnostic stuff. And that can be very helpful. I think people who tell you to play another system are a) acting in your best interest and would love to see you cover other games once in a while (or more often) or are b) just trolls who should be ignored. Please be kind and don’t feed the trolls and think about the people who watch your channel although they don’t play or run DnD.
I love the deep dive (if you'll pardon the pun) you did on this guy, definitely gave me some things to think about!
@@liamfitzgerald1400 nice 😉
One of the most original takes on the kraken I've seen this week. I like the historical deep dive format, too. Keep up the good work!
@@cobrachicken07 thank you!!!
Absolutely love the vampire kraken!!! Thank you 😊
Nice
yeah, i think history vs D&D is a good idea. it’s interesting. and can be used to generate cool variations on tired tropes.
@@goblinwizard735 I absolutely agree! It was great for my nerdy history-channel watching inner-child 😂
You could have Kraken be a class of creature or the name of Sea guardians. Maybe a bunch of great and ancient sea creatures who fought for territory, terraforming the land, and Sea with their great war, and with the end of it, came the lines drawn for the sea today. If they are revered as gods, different people, Kraks, fight to protect their deities ocean. Did jormangandr get involved? Separate the Earth into hemispheres of ocean to stop the fight? Man, I lovespitballing
@@scatrbrain5154 love the lore!
Krakens are scary no matter what just being in water looking down in the darks and seeing something move
The real Kraken 😅 and in the same breath it is a myth. I'm regards to vampire Kraken. I think he got the idea from the real Vampire Squid. It is a beautiful creature youtube it and I think the bioluminescence and thr barbed tentacles would be a great add to the monster.
I am actually working on a Kraken that gives the feel of an incredibly powerful monster that only the best can attempt to take down for Fabula Ultima. It's going to be ridiculously powerful, but I think would be manageable to deal with. I already got the main body down. Now just to create some tentacles that convey a specific gimmick...
I'm so happy, that you are participating in kraken week! Wonderful video as always!
@@syranaellaenarys5965 thank you! Me too!
