If you can develop your own online business, do it!! Why put a financial cap on your own potential?! F**k, what a joke, I'm OUT!!😂❤
Your videos are great at giving me an actual idea of what the ux/ui career could be like.!
So happy to hear! Anything I can do to help!
Lovely content , I’m looking forward to starting a career in UX design, your videos are very helpful
Thank you, best of luck!
Been following your journey for a minute and you inspired me to start my own journey into UX. Would be great to see how you used notion and any templates or guides you used because it's not sticking for me just yet as you mention. I know you mentioned plugins in your pervious videos so would be great to have a video on more plugins you genuinely use. Thanks for your content
Great suggestion!
Had to subscribe after looking through tons and tons of UX/UI designers that would not scare you off with what it's about. You make it look more understandable 😊. Cause I'm about to do a slight not so slight career switch
I'm glad to hear it! It's definitely not as scary as some make it seem
Thanks so much for breaking down your workflow and the tools that you are using to complete your tasks and projects.
Glad it was helpful!
Watching this is giving me such motivation I went from me. Interior decorater to now finishing up my google UX course love to see another black women in the field!!
You're really pretty
Hey Steph, hope you're doing well? I'm thinking about a career change and to pursue the UX design. What are your thoughts about it ?
Wow! Thank you for making this video. I’m in a similar boat- have been working as an interior designer for the 8 years and I feel exhausted, burnt out and the pays are so low. I’ve worked in enough studios to see this level of stress over and over. I’ve seen designers slowly lose touch with their personal lives as they get more and more projects in - its horrible! I’m currently researching other job paths before I resign from my current one- considering real estate and perhaps do design as freelance :)
Ok, so you understand better than most! The stress and lack of balance in interior design is so toxic. But I think having an interior design background and getting into real estate & design is a triple threat! You got this ❤💪
Thank you :) and thanks for sharing your journey - it’s very inspiring. Have an interview booked for a real estate position this Friday.
Thank you for highlighting the other industries where UX may be needed, as this wasn't something I'd given much thought about. Your video has been super helpful and encouraging, especially as someone who's looking to make a career shift in their late 30s.
I love to hear that! I'm so glad this is helpful and as someone who has done the career change it is possible!
i love ur videos so much, its so educative, i wish to take a career on ui/ux design and be better like u.
How much is the schooling?
Hey Stephanie! I’m starting Springboard in July thanks to your videos🎉🎉🎉 I’m excited and hopefully they apply your code😂 thank you for sharing!!
That's so exciting! Honestly if you can stick it out the first month you will be set! Let me know if you have any issues, but normally the discount code process is pretty seamless. Good luck!
Stephanie! I’m starting my cohort July 8 thanks to your videos 🎉🎉 I used your code, hopefully they actually apply it 😂 thanks for sharing
I'm currently on the Springboard bootcamp. It's been a bit challenging as well fun too🙂
That’s awesome! I’m glad to hear you’re liking it
Ahhh! Stephanie its been a while 💕💕 I hope you're doing well and getting enough rest and waater.
Thank you! I hope you are as well 🙂
A tutorial for that animation would probably do numbers on this channel.
what should i get the job from?? can you help me plz
hummm no code? I like that!
Right?!
I really wish I had heard of ux years ago. I didn’t even realize how saturated the industry was until I started my boot camp and the instructor was talking abt his struggles finding work as a career veteran! I’ve been job searching since January and still nothing
I’m sorry your search has been so tough 😫 I would recommend looking at other industries like government, insurance, construction etc. that might be in need of designer. The role might not even be listed as Ux but could be a path to look in to. Good luck!!
you're so pretty , you look animated. lovely video .
this doesnt even relate to the video fr
@@AndreiFN yes it doesn’t. Captain obvious.
Thank you, Stephanie, for this info! I am a recent subscriber and have been binge-watching your UX Design videos!
Oh I love a good binge, lol thanks for watching!
I mean for what it’s worth AI will hit every career world of we are being honest. We see AI in restaurants, technology already making robot waiters in some countries. We see the rise of AI even in the medical field, how they are trying to make robot doctors 😅. Of course technology will get talked about and hit first with AI. But it will in time hit and potentially take a variety of careers. Maybe the generation of gen z, is where they may get concerned about AI taking over careers. We see it now in grocery stores they replace cashiers with more and more self checkout. But let’s say we live in a world where AI does take jobs, what does that leave us to do, well we all sit at home n just what live bill free???? That will be the new problem oh we can’t get jobs because of AI taking them, that would be an interesting world to live in
Can you do a video about the tech gear and softwares you use as a UX designer
Yes definitely!
Nice, to see a black woman UX designer ❤
thank you!
Thanks for sharing! Im currently a university student thinking of entering this market and my school offers a bootcamp. because this market is competitive should I still get a traditional degree in a related field? or do you think a ux/ui design bootcamp is enough? 😅
I think a boot camp degree is enough for this role. It doesn't hurt to have another degree even an associate but not required. I have a bachelor's degree in Interior Design, which was helpful but not necessarily related 😅 Good luck!
Thank you so much for sharing your portfolio and neat presentation. I am new to UX/UI exploring more in the designing field☺
Glad it was helpful!
I can definitely relate - I switched from engineering to front-end web dev, then decided to switch to web design, until finally I landed in graphic design. I do feel like design is my thing and I am happy I finally found it! :)
That's awesome! Sometimes it takes trying out a few things until someting sticks.
I saw spring board is over 16k I just graduated with a BFA in Interior Architecture. I’m very interested in getting into UX design. Are there other ux design boot camps that are more affordable/ up to par ?
Hey! I believe Google's UX course is still free.
I started to take this more seriously this year. I dabbled into UX a little bit 1-2 years ago. But it still one one of the careers that will grow into the future based on research. That said, I have been in a UX/UI bootcamp and complete it Jan 2025. There's other industries outside of tech that UX/UI is still needed in. I am confident but won't come easy for sure! I'm going to talk to other UXers. I am able to secure a real project with my HOA to re-design their website. So this would be super good to add to my portfolio.
This is awesome! That fact that you a have real world project lined up will give you such an advantage! Good luck!
Thank you for your video! It was really reassuring!! I’m planning on doing the self teaching route. I love watching your videos!!
Thank you for watching! Glad it was able to help ❤️
Thanks for the advice! I wanna try to get into UX/UI design but hear a lot of people saying it’s over saturated but I’ll remember to consider those other industries you mentioned that need designers that a lot of people overlook sometimes👍🏾
Good luck and thank you for watching!
I can’t speak for any other industry, but in the FinTech world, UX designers are still extremely needed. I have job security for years to come. And AI doesn’t hold a candle to what a human can do in terms of designing a good customer and user experience
Thank you for your perspective! I’m totally with you on AI, still a long way to go!
just out of curiosity, what company you are working at?
What do you guys think? Are you still trying to make it as a UX Designer?
Can you check out my portfolio?
Ohhh yes, AI has a long way to go
Exactly! I don't think we need to panic
✨Thank you for watching! Let me know what you keep in your work bag
Hi Steph. When did you finish Springboard & how long did it take you to get the job? If you don't mind me asking pls
Hey! It took me 6 months after finishing the bootcamp
Thanks for this video! very helpful!
✨Thank you for watching! Let me know what mistakes you've made.
are you a Jr or Senior UX?
how did you go from Interior Design to UX? what things you didn’t like about Interior Design, if there are any?
I just posted a video all about this!
Any tips, ideas or recommendations for job hunting? I’ve been searching for a few months and just feel like. I keep coming up short?
Hey! I would look into offering your services to family, friends, or local businesses in our area. I think the more experience you have on your resume will help you stand out against other new designers. Also look at other industries like healthcare, government, and legal. These industries get overlooked for sure!
Just starting my certificate and im SO glad a woman of color popped up in my search! New subbie
Thanks for subbing!
Thank you for watching! Don't forget to check out Sprinboard! And tell me where are you at in your career journey?
Almost half way done with the program and just started in march!
@@ebistreet damn you are killing it! That’s awesome
