it’s hard. really bad matchup. so don’t beat yourself up if you lose. especially in a big tourney. just unlucky pairing. but, i generally just play normally. swing into board, try to control hand. if you can, try not to go to 3 to avoid kaido 10 drop but it’s really hard to do that with hody in the deck. also, try to play around gravity blade by only playing top end after their 7 don turn. not playing anything under 6. like cavendish into basil on 10 don is really good against any other deck except them. so just ya know be cognizant of what their turn can look like before you start playing cards. counter out early to avoid pudding. preferably spending the counter on saving characters if you can. it’s just a rough matchup but just do your best to play around pudding gravity blade and kaido and you can win.

So I have only played Bonney this format I think I’m like 21/10 so far from all the tourneys. I HATED zoro and honestly I still do. He just does not do what 8 drop or 10 drop do. But at a tourney this weekend I managed to win the mirror with him like I’m supposed to, win against Enel when they didn’t see raigo and beat the nightmare march up Nami twice. I won’t say he’s correct because I cut him just like you did. Love your videos tho they have been insanely helpful.
Good video. Instead of Zoro I added in the banish/double attack 5 drop Yamato. It has worked out well so far.

HI! what can we do if your opponent plays Enel and never attacks your life until he has 2-3 big characters on the board like Yamato, Katakuri and Ace. In this case is it worth attacking him to reduce him to 2 lives?
Hi. Yea, its fine to, but I just wouldnt tap any characters unless youre willing to lose them to their board before you can answer it. i mean if your field is literally like basil basil ten drop kid, then for sure swing at life and start to threaten game. i just dont like to swing early because it gives them more cards to protect their high end and cards that i swing into on hody turns, id rather just play my high end and when they inevitably swing, you can answer into their board. of course, there are exceptions to everything. in general, against enel, you just have to be cognizant of what kind of position they are in. play in a way to make their cards feel bad for them to play (raigo w 3 life, ace on 2 life, yamato on 2 life with no targets because you played around it) and clear board when you can, threaten life when necessary.
But 9c zoro is so important in the mirror Match

@@guilhermebarbosa5398 it’s a decently bonney favored matchup in my opinion. starve them and just swing board. sometimes you’ll swing a leader 5k swing here and there to skill check them. you can leave them at 2 life if you want to. that ensures that their raigo trashes a life and their ace can’t get rush and yamato can’t gain a card. generally either leave them at 2 or 0 every turn. some people like keeping them at 2, and it makes sense because flampe is a thing. but idk i’ve had success with just starving them from the get go and only swinging when i need to play around yamato. like i’ll starve for most of the game, take my life, you’ll usually end up being at 7 life total between the two players so you’ll swing at that point for sure so that yamato can’t kill hody. that kind of stuff. you just have to play differently, once you get the hang of it, it’s a pretty winnable matchup

I would say Zoro is still a very good card. On the situations you mentioned that you could have kid or zoro and kid would be a better pick, I would immagine you were against the wall in a way where playing zoro would not help you, however, if you have something already set up like a kid on the field and means to keep it there, dropping a zoro would throw the opponent off, because now that red roc, or whatever removal that would be casted on your kid, will target zoro and buy you more time with it on the table, or assuming it goes for you and you have the means to hold the attacks incoming, Zoro will seal the match on the next turn and given bonney is a deck that plays with a stacked hand, deppending on hand size it may discourage the opponent from attacking multiple times with small hits. But it is not like the card is a MUST on the deck, just something to put pressure when the time is right.
@@GGWyzzy what you described is what i would call a win-more card. when you’re already winning, so much so that the opponent can’t out your top end cards before you play zoro, then a card that makes you win even more (zoro) doesn’t seem good to me. definitely can win games for sure. but i’m trying to win tournaments, not just games. i don’t want a card that makes my easy matchups easier. i would 100% play cards that make my bad matchups slightly better if it means cutting cards that make my already good matchups better. you already have a favorable matchup into by luffy and enel, and are 50/50 into mirror. those are the only three matchups that i would ever feel comfortable playing a zoro down. otherwise, against lucci and rp law, it would most likely be removed. and if there is a chance it would be removed, im just never playing it because now i just spent 9 don for literally no reason. so i’m just never playing it down against law and lucci, which are by far the most popular decks this format. and even in the matchups it is good in, i still find myself, over and over again as i keep trying it, that i STILL don’t even play it down in those matchups. because kid and doffy and usually just better. they both get some sort of on play value whether that is freezing 3, playing a blocker, preventing an attack. zoro just stands there and hopes that the opponent can’t out it before it can actually do something and even when it can do something, you have to spend 3 don to use it’s ability for the full effect, meaning you can’t play kid, doffy, another zoro, or hody that turn and still keep a don for leader ability. it just has way too many conflicts with the rest of the deck, doesn’t get ANY on play value in a removal heavy meta, and is just win-more in your already favorable matchups. just seems pointless to play it to me, when i can just play a card that makes my bad matchups better, like kid into law and lucci.

I think the reiju conceded there not because they couldn’t survive next turn, But probably because you could have likely cleared most of if not all of the board and just won the following turn. They definitely should have played it out. Then again it’s also just possible something came up IRL that they had to take care of which is why it took so long for them to concede. Any tips on how to clap Enel decks with Bonney?
starve them early. theres an argument to put them at 2 because they will just get to flampe and get themselves to 2 anyway while also drawing a card. but i dont like that argument because if i swing, i give them the top card of their life and they keep the flampe in hand. if i force them to play the flampe, then they have to spend a don and lose a 2k in hand to go even (draw replaces flampe, life card replaces life swing in other hypo). so, idk, i just feel like it is marginally better to starve them early to deny cards while forcing out the flampes? but i could also see an argument to put them at 2 then play board from there because it puts them in like decent danger for the rest of the game if you go wide and tall, and it still makes their yamato, ace, and raigo awkward to play, which is what you want to be doing all the time, just making their top end cards weird and feel bad to play. idk, i am still trying out both ways to be honest. The one thing i know for sure is that you definitely just need to clear board all the time and try to out-high-end them with doffy and kid
I dont think zoro is good but he just beats random rogue decks you may play against in tourneys by himself. 1 of is fine imo

Interesting to see the different game plans based on starting hand vs RP laws. Feels like more of a matchup where you have to play to what your opp is doing instead of just 'what this deck does vs what that deck does'. This meta feels like the healthiest it's been in a while.

tried it, dont like it. i dont like the argument that searchers arent good because they bottom good cards. same when i played digimon tcg, a lot of people would cut searchers because you dont want to bottom good cards but i think its just a fallacy to believe that. its just statistics at the end of the day. you could also argue that baby 5 is good in situations where you whiff a basil and your next draw is a basil because of the 5 you bottomed with baby 5. so the logic just doesnt sit right w me. consistency is consistency. but always open to change my mind, i liked the supernova version more because it allows you to play more zoro and bonney 5 drop which i wanted to test out, but overall it was just lackluster and died way faster because the opponent isnt directing as many swings to searchers as they would otherwise. makes the ten drop unsearchable which is the best top end in the deck in my opinion.

@@thekidleo1 not sure where you mean specifically but yea that’s the going strategy currently. i probably swung bc he had luffy on field which punishes you for not swinging. or i’m swinging w cavendish to get the effect. or i’m trying to bait out counter. just depends on the spot. very important to remember that you can’t follow other peoples advice on a matchup 100% of the time. situations change, sometimes it’s good to do something simply because it will throw the opponent off. situational. that’s why this game is fun. also i like to change things up just to test out different strategies. if i just believed everything that everyone else was saying about a certain thing without testing the alternatives then how would i ever be better than them?

For clarification, for RP Law, if they did get basil to 3000, and try to bottom deck it, does he actually goes away or has to wait till the other character is played by law effect in order to rested it? There been a discussion on that recently. I just want to make sure it is played right. FYI, love your video of bonney. So much learning. One i still struggle a little is mirror match and RP Law. yea good question. the way it was ruled in asia: basil CANNOT prevent the bottoming of himself if there is nothing to rest when law activates the effect. so, rp law players uses 2 gordon’s on basil. no other cards on field. don-3, bottom basil. basil CANNOT activate and goes to the bottom. THEN law plays a 4 drop from hand. Basil CANNOT tap the new 4 drop. This ruling is supported by a ruling from OP05/ST10 that is very similar and was officially ruled on by Bandai. enel v rp law. enel has the 7 drop enel on field. rp law uses 2 gordon’s on it. then, don-3 to bottom and play a Luffy (so enel would not activate) but Bandai said, yes Enel character CAN activate because at the time of the bottom deck, the Luffy is not on the field, so Enel can trash a life to save himself before the Luffy comes into play. Google “ST10 QnA Bandai” to find this ruling. first link. Same situation here but doesn’t work out in Basils favor. the bottom deck happens first, then the play. so you CANNOT tap whatever they play. Now… all that being said… you need to ask your head judge at an event you’re at to get the real ruling. Rulings in card games are solely determined by the head judge of that event that day. So if the head judge says you can, you can. If they say you can’t, you can’t. unfortunately that is the way you have to proceed until Bandai makes an official QnA regarding this interaction.
