I’ve been advised by a garage owner to steer well clear of the V12 because, he says, the last two spark plugs are exceptionally difficult to swap out and as a result many owners never bother to. Do you (or anyone else) have any comments on that? Also what, in your opinion, are the most common faults to expect in a used example?

Had the same model also in grey on a 1968 G plate. Ran it for a few years, but sold it as it didnt get used enough. Sold it before prices went silly, grrrrrrr. There's a video here on youtube by motordrome land rover after it was restored and repainted in pastel green. XYO 246G

Now that really is a classic I never drive one as a mechanic back in the day, I remember finding one in the scrapyard & thinking that it shouldn't be crushed but I was unable to save it.

Thank You "very" much for showing this beautiful Car, I like everything about it. I think that in the 1930s we reached a pinacol in building proper quality automobiles. That preselect gearbox is lovely, so smooth! Thanks again. 😳WoW.

I enjoyed that. What a superb original looking Cloud. I like this post 1958 final development of the six cylinder engine with its Continental cylinder head, higher compression and larger 2" Carbs. I can smell the original leather from here. Very interesting and nicely driven. Thank you Nick.

Driven properly, they are very docile. "In slow, Out fast" is the way to drive - i.e. feathered throttle into the corner, slight acceleration through, and firm out. This causes the rear to squat, and lessen the dreaded tuckunder. I had a Renoir Blue 1962 saloon, plate number 5261MX, from early1968 to late1970, drove around England with a wife, 9yo and 3month-old daughters, then in 1970 did a 2000mile, two week tour of Europe, tent on top, bedding inside, food in the boot. Happy Days !

I am in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. and have just been made aware of a 1973 P1800ES with 18,000 miles. Have yet to see it but it will be a most interesting visit. The late owner is said to be an eccentric hoarder from a prominent family.

My Father had a lot of Jags. My Uncle preferred Mercs and Audis. Uncle Les's fav was a W123. Not bad, but the ride was awful compared to Dad's S2 XJ6. He bought it from the boss of Allied Carpets. It had been chauffeured, had a few extras. Lovely thing. FWP793S. You failed to mention that Jag made a 2.8 version. If I could find a tidy XJ now I would have it fitted with a modern automatic gearbox. I think the three speed auto let the cars down.

I’m still confused as to what the “Motorsport Edition” is. Did BMW call it that? What exactly is this option package? Where was it available ? In the US we hear of none of this except of course for an M6

I get it and it dose look good. But it’s also become complex and by the sounds of it another vehicle that’s a dealer machine, and also is more expensive than the new defender.. i was also disappointed they chose to produce it out side the uk. Personally im in the market fore a decent 4x4 but has to be cost effective and important to be simple and easy to get most services and mantance done by myself or and by any mechanic or independent. Also if it were priced around 40-50k new it would be easy to stomach especially as a business that runs on 0 debt good or bad but asking around 70k+ on the road that’s too much there is still better second hand options on the market that is less risk and easy to swallow. Ineos reminds my what lr did with the defender in the later years and seems to of fallen to the same issues like making it more complex and focusing on the premium end and it concerns me, that ineos seems to follow a similar path and seems to be another expensive luxury yes rugged 4x4/suv and has strayed from the original brief. But i will wait and see how it preforms in the second hand market in a few years time. In the meantime ill be buying ever another Land Rover product which I don’t like the direction they have gone, but I’ve found owning a far few they have been prity reliable and actually surprisingly easy to work on and a tone of decent specialist that are way better than main dealers. And yes I’ve tried so call reliable brands and had worse reliability issues or no better than my experience. But it’s good there’s competition and we will see.

I am sure many people would say that the XK 120 was the purest of the pre-E-type Jaguar sports cars. For me I like the XK 150 better than either the 120 or 140, and I never liked the E-type. This is a lovely car to feast the eyes and ears on! Best wishes from George

i had 2 x mg metro turbos both e reg both white, 1st one i had went very well kept with a mk2 golf gti 8v up to around 90, my friend had an f reg golf gti and we raced all the time, i knew it was a fast little car when the rubber mat on the passenger side flew off when i floored it, i remember the turbo came in about 3000 and got stronger as you hit 6k

Is there concern of parts availability. I would be concerned if anything broke that Ineos would keep the parts for new units over service/repairs. Has anyone had experience of this yet?

The 3l Alvis were clearly better than the Mercedes 300 SL. Handmade, bespoke, outstanding value for money. The Mercedes: Only one configuration, untried direct petrol injection, overengineered gullwing doors, claustrophobic interior, and you already had to pay a hefty plus just for the brand.
