Arts Transcending Borders

Arts Transcending Borders

Initially funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Arts Transcending Borders (ATB) is an initiative designed to enhance the role of the arts in every aspect of the Holy Cross experience by infusing the arts into students' academic lives and creating new opportunities throughout the curriculum and the community to cross cultural, geographic, and disciplinary boundaries.

Fabulous. Very inspiring but also reminding of the changes and losses over time and how our memories are a self embellished snapshot that mo longer exists in reality.

This is really wonderful and inspiring for me because I am the type of person that works this way as well like quickly and deliberately. I am curious to see the tool that he made for himself and what would be the criteria or some thing for delicate lines, he said, so I guess I can get a general idea.

Kevork is a terrific artist and I thank him for sharing his information. Kevork's technique can also be used with a gel printing plate instead of painting on a sheet of glass or plexiglass. If you want to make your own gel printing plate there are several videos of recipes and instructions available on You Tube. I use both the commercially made plates and home made plates. You can save money by making your own gel printing plate. If you use the glass or plexiglass sheets that is also great.

Thank you so much for this demo. So this is using a simple piece of vinyl? I guess I didn’t actually need the Gelli plate I bought.

Monotypes can be done more skillfully , not just by going the easy way monotype , where you just erase from a big block . Painting portraits , whole scenes , and etc. is possible and can be printed by hand . I can .

Amazing how he taught his audience this technique in 10 minutes. I also appreciated that he was clear about how it's fine to improvise with the tools. Art supplies are expensive, so it's a valuable piece of advice to show how to improvise. Thank you!

Great technique. What is the transparent material? I thought it was glass but it flexes so is it celluloid film or something? And it’s resting on a white sheet of paper?
