The video should of only showed vertical ollies.. later on about 4 years later Rodney Mullen created the flat ground ollie. So they are both to thank for the Ollie, just in different areas of skating. Almost all the ollies in the video are thanks to Rodney Mullen really, he may of taken some inspiration though. It's just facinating to think what was happening before the ollie lol.

I'm very old. I was there, then. Alan "Ollie" Gelfand invented the Ollie. It was beautiful, and it was amazing. It will always be his. He did it vertically. It was mind blowing. But later, Rodney Mullen did it on the flat. This was mind SHATTERING. You can't imagine. Everyone who skates, owes them both. Alan Gelfand is a centered, non-assuming guy. But you ALL OWE HIM.
I met Ollie in 1979 in California, I wasn't there when he invented the move but he was still the only one who could do it well at the time, and it was a vert move. Very nice guy.
