Wow, those are really beautiful. Plus, the music is fitting for that style of lamp scones whatever you call it, love it.
sconce noun (1) ˈskän(t)s Synonyms of sconce 1 : a bracket candlestick or group of candlesticks also : an electric light fixture patterned on a candle sconce. __________________________________________________________ scones /skōn, skŏn/ Plural form of scone noun A small, rich, biscuitlike pastry or quick bread, sometimes baked on a griddle. Yeast bread dough, deep-fried and served with honey and butter or with a savory filling.
Love them and l think they are iron and very old ,if you put metal into vinegar it will turn your piece rusty
Hi Melanie, it’s great to see someone that has a comprehensive set of carbides. I learned early on that I would rather turn things instead of sharpening tools. There seems to be some snob appeal to shaving vs scraping but in the end my carbide generated hollow forms, bowls and platters look just great….without all that sharpening angst. I have all the sharpening equipment and a few gouges but….why bother!
Yeah I agree. I find some people are more interested in the tools and machines than the end product
awesome...!!!
awesome...!!!
Thanks. And thanks for subscribing 😊
Rustic and great use of palette wood. A lot of work though
Cool sink cabinet Rustic and functional. Love it
Wow beautiful sink. I want one!!
Sharp and a great tool!!
Awesome
Very nice!
Do you make a hinge bottom so you can clean it out
I use screws
Thank you beautiful work
Super cool. Love it!
I'm doing a bit of woodworking and have a request for some birdhouses. Just for decorations, not for birds to nest in. Your birdhouse was exactly what I was looking for. That has to be one of the coolest birdhouses ever. The bear face was a very nice touch. I also really like the burned roof and copper top.
Really nice project I might have done the door end and the doors slightly different, used diagonal wood on the doors. And I would seriously consider cladding the inside just to make a nicer place to work in but it looks fab.
Thanks for the thoughts. I may do something more on the inside. If I do I make a new video
Jesus loves you always!!!!!
Love all your bird house designs! Amazing talent! Thank you sharing these.
Hello It was a useful video, thank you. I use Proxxon for porcelain finishing work. Would you recommend Merlin 2? Proxxon heats up in 15 minutes and I need to take a break. I wanted to ask since you use both. thanks
I don't recommend the Merlin2. They have a new model so maybe it is better. I don't know
Should have a back-up grinder, or ready-to-use other one with different disc. I have 5 grinders fitted with 5 different discs.
@@sukrusenemoglu hmmm Merlin 2 was always breaking down. I've had no trouble with the Proxxon
Thank you for sharing. I have a mountain property with a seasonal creek that I will need to build a bridge 🌉 over it. I really like what you have done with your upgrade to your bridge. Would you be willing to share your bridge plans? I'll continue to watch your videos. Again, thank you for sharing. V/R, Daniel Foxworthy.
Thanks Daniel, I don't have bridge plans but would share them if I did. My bridge required a resurfacing in order to give it more strength. In the process we increased its strength to carry 60K as well as adding a railing and gate for security and aesthetics. The original 3 steel beams were placed inappropriately and not supporting a vehicles weight directly. That was the real problem. If I had had 2 steel beams 8 feet apart I may not have need to beef up the deck boards. Ask yourself how much weight will be traveling across your bridge. This will help you decide the materials you will need. Good Luck.
@@I-build-crafts thank you.
Get rid of the D@MN@D music....what an irritation!!!
Glad I didn’t have to write the check for this project! Lol What was the massive concrete foundation from? It’s VERY intriguing!
There was a dam there at one point in time.
Wow! Big project for sure. Looking good❤
Yeah to say the least
I am so sorry for your loss, he was such a sweet boy.
Hi Julie! Thanks. It's very difficult
Sorry for your loss. Animals are the smartest people on Earth.
What kind was Ollie? My fiancé (we’re actually getting married tomorrow!!) has two wire Fox terriers that look amazingly similar to him, but have a lot of brown and black. Great project, but sorry for your loss!
He was a silver schnauzer. Pure white. Miss him so much only been two weeks. 😣. Congrats on your marriage!
I just wanted to say Thanku for taking the time to post such fantastic instructions,I’ve been collecting old machinery to try and start learning woodwork so I’m just starting and I’m making attempting your beautiful birdhouse,if I get through it I will try n sell it which we will both benifit from but I just wanted to say Thanku for the inspiration and the push to believe in being more than your told kind regards dawn 🐝🌼
Wow! Nice. You girls are incredibly amazing! You sure have encouraged me to press on towards bigger challenges! By the way Mel. I love your voice. It is soothing and calming just the way Bob Ross's is , when he is sharing his passion. Nice job!
Thanks Sue is good to get positive positive feedback
I have made hundreds of things out of wood. From bowls to benches. Many people ask me if I would sell them, but no one wants to pay much for them. When I die, then the kids can have one big yard sale. Just the way it is.
Good video. I thin my filler down to the consistency of milk. It's highly flammable but dries quickly. If using paint or dye over it, then I only sand to 240. A spray lacquer of course requires me going to 600.
Thanks for the tips!
Thank you, Glory to God forever!
those are fun. i made a few hummingbird houses last year on the lathe.
love your work. ive learned alot. ty and good vibes.
I looked at these two units at a woodworking store this morning. I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger before doing more research. Thanks for the heads up.
I don't use epoxy , Yet. but I use both types of chisels. for me it depends on how the wood is cutting. That looked very nice.
Cool, thanks
You are so awesome!!!!
This is really a very unique birdhouse. I love the idea and the finished product. As a beginner myself I have a couple questions? Should it have ventilation and drainage holes? Are any of the finishes or glues toxic to birds? What type of birds does this attract? Does the plexiglas warp, yellow or soften in sunlight? Do you have a measured plan for this house? How do you hang or mount it when finished?
Hi and thanks! I am not a bird expert but rather a wood worker and artist. But some people have lots to say about the designs and builds of bird houses and have made several comments that include answers to your questions. These are my thoughts: I think the very structure of my birdhouses have ventilation with no extra holes, they are not air tight. As for glues and finishes once dry they are not toxic. Some say the hole size is relevant to the type of bird that uses the house, I think that the bird type is relevant to the type of birds you have in your area which depends on the type of climate, food and safety in your area. Plexiglass does not wrap or soften and you can buy glass that has a UV anti fog and anti yellowing quality, depends on what you want to spend. I always tell people that I am an artist first and learned to build through experience and observation. There are no plans so I move through a build starting with an architectural design in my mind. As for hanging, I instruct people to sit them on a post that is on a secluded porch under cover. This way you can watch the babies grow. The presence of dogs and children may not attach birds. Some like to hang them from a beam under the roof structure of a porch, you can attach and eye hook to the top of the birdhouse as long as you have built in a strong ridge beam. Hope this answers your questions. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Great artwork! I appreciate the information.
My pleasure!
Thank you!
What type of glue are you using ?
Hey, thanks for watching John and thanks for subscribing. All the information about the glue is in the description below the video.
cut the ridge back 1 1/2in on each side
Thanks!
Thanks so much!!
I'm a beginner in woodworking and I'm trying to find my niche...so of course I do a lot of research and while doing so I ran across your video. I must say I enjoyed this one and I subscribed to your channel. I just think you're so talented and your birdhouses are a thing of art! I love how you explain everything so simple and easy without all the technical info like most people do. I'm learning so I will admit when the measurement degrees pitch and all that sort of stuff really makes me feel like a dummy and perhaps I should have paid more attention in school..lol Well it's a bit intimidating...lol... but I'm learning more and more. Anyway I hope you sell lots of your beautiful birdhouses and I thank you for sharing your work.
It's always nice to hear such supportive words. I appreciate you very much! Just wing it when you put your birdhouse together and you should be fine. If you've done the research it's a great, jumping off place.
Melanie, Thank you for responding to my message and I understand shipping is inevitable. I just opened an Etsy Store and I can see they calculate the shipping and add it to the price but it doesn't seem to be nearly enough to cover the cost! Inevitably it is you who has to get a box, fill it with your product and packaging and take it to your shipping partner. What service do you partner with to get your best shipping cost?
You can add a handling charge to the shipping price in Etsy. And you can use a company called Sendel that I think you can set up in Etsy
Melanie, I love your work and appreciate the knowledge you have shared. I have been making birdhouses also which I hope to sell on Etsy. The thing is that I took one of them which I would sell for $80 and found out the shipping cost would be around $40 inside my own state and around $80 to ship accresos the country. Having seen your work I know your pieces are pretty large and heavy so how do you ship them with out costing you an arm and a leg? Thanks, Jim
There is no way to get away from shipping cost. I let them figure it out in the online store if you have one.
As long as what you put on is on the outside of the house, it’s ok.
Very nice! Two things I would have done different: I would have run a batten horizontally along the end grain edge of the removeable bottom piece of the birdhouse, (on both sides) and butted the others up against it. I would have also made that bottom piece about a quarter of an inch longer on each side so that the bottom of the plexiglass had something to rest on.
The best glue I’ve used for those kinds of project has gorilla glue. It’s impervious to water and glue wood to block walls with gorilla wood. We can’t do another woods and gorilla was not that expensive spot six dollars a bottle.
Omg she just made a bird incenerator with that plastic magnifying glass
