Fantastic video! I'm preparing for my first experience with YC. We're heading to the Bahamas from New York. As vegans, the food is the only thing that worries me. We don't consume any meat, pasta, eggs, or cheese. I'm hoping they will fulfill our needs. I appreciate you taking the time and making the effort to share your very informative movie with all of us. Hugs to you and your husband :)
Enjoyed watching this… I’m going on Iona with my friend at the beginning of September… Will definitely try the glasshouse. Did you have to book or did you just turn up and take a chance?😊
It was never necessary for us to make a reservation for the glass house, however, it does depend on the occupancy level of the cruise. If you are planning a special meal, it might be prudent to make a reservation just in case.
Brilliant video! You've made our mind up to pay extra for YC! My wife and I can't agree where your accent is from?! North West is all we agree on! She says Southport, I say Cheshire? Anyway, thank you for your excellent film
Hello, I'm from Liverpool. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, thank you!
Looks amazing we go in just under 2 weeks where and when was this filmed thanks
This video was filmed in January 2024. I hope you enjoy your cruise! Have an amazing time!
Even on mega ships I never take the elevators. I’ll walk up 10 flights of stairs because I get so fed up with how the elevator stops at every floor. I never gave a thought to classes, 1st, 2nd, steerage, etc. but forcing others to skip their floors must really make them feel like the Hoi polio.😂
I admit it was a bit embarrassing when my floor was made a priority...
I’m not much of a drinker but did the YC include top shelf, like Louis XIII Cognac?
No, unfortunately not. The best I managed to get was a VSOP.
Great tips. I heard you about the sail in and sail out of Flam. Our balcony cabin is on the right side of the ship. Do you think we should go up on deck for better viewing?
I actually found the best views were from the back of the ship on deck 15. At the back of the buffet. Happy sailing.
@@CrusieCTRL thank you
Anthem of the Seas at 11:00
Certainly is!
This will be our cabin next month!, thanks for sharing!
Hope you enjoy it!
@@CrusieCTRL We will, did you get much noise from the sun deck?, not that this would worry us too much.
@@paulstanding8516 To be honest, no. I don't recall there being any noise from above us! I hope it's the same for you on this trip.
Hi Cruise control, I’ve seen other KZread videos about MSC yacht club and it seems that people that are staying in the yacht club and have friends that aren’t in NYC invite them into the restaurant. I thought only Y.C. guest were allowed in because of the card that you had to swipe to get in the door. Not sure I like this. Should I be worried about going on a MSC yacht club ship when other people from non-yacht club can get in?
Hello. We've never found this to be a problem. I don't think we say anyone bring non-YC friends into the dining room.
Thanks for the walk round - I've wondered if I'd cruise in those Deck 8 balcony cabins, but I'm not sure - they seem VERY open to the passers by!
I thought the same as you. However, if you go for the conservatory cabin category, get one on deck 9, so no one can peer into your cabin.
What is MSC ?
MSC is another cruise line where the tables are not well spaced apart.
We were on the ship last week and absolutely loved Pearl and especially Coral, where the wonderful Lloyd and his team were fantastic hosts. Couldn't fault the food or the service.
That's the thing about individual experiences... They can be so different. I'm glad you had a great experience.
Wonderful review. Brought back lovely memories of when we sailed on the Iona. X
Glad you enjoyed it
Honest feedback as an avid cruise you tube viewer--the narration/voice over was excellent--good flow, good info etc etc. However the visuals/edit would put me off--slow mo into the MDR wasn't great, time lapse at the table a little bizarre, lead up to restaurant not stabilized.
Thank you so much for the feedback. I really appreciate it, and I will keep it in mind for my next video. Thank for taking the time to watch! Cheers
Thank you
You're welcome
Is pizza repeated throughout the buffet? Or just one station?
Hello, The Pizza is just at one station right at the front of the Buffet to right as you walk in!
I have cruises booked for this and next year, never really gave MSc a thought, heard they were very busy etc, however because of videos like this I'm definitely interested in doing YC, did you notice if it was wheelchair friendly, thanks
Hi. Yacht club is wheelchair friendly but I would check with MSC to double check if the specific ship you are planning on sailing has wheelchair access. Have a fantastic cruise!
Tks. Very helpful. Excited! Booked Yacht Club and boarding in 2 weeks in South Africa
Have a fantastic time!
I am travelling on Borealis on 14 May 2024, haven't been on Fred Olsen for a few years, usually travel on P and O Aurora, love that ship, however I think the food has declined somewhat, and they have ruined the atrium which was stunning, am looking forward to seeing Borealis, thank you for posting this....take care
Thanks for your message and I hope you have a fantastic time on the Borealis.. it's one of my favourite small ships!
Going on Virtuosa yacht club in July - can’t wait! Great videos.
Have fun!
Thank you! Going on a 10 in a few weeks, heard many discouraging things. You have me excited now!! Thanks, great video.
You got this!
Very good info. My sister and I r going in a few weeks. Can’t wait for yacht club!
Have fun!
Totally agree with you, we had all our meals in there, really good choice and cooked well. Liked it so much we are going again soon. Cant wait
Im glad you enjoyed it and have fun on your next cruise!
Great video! Thanks so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Very good video ,thank ypu
Thank you !
Thanks very useful info.
Glad it was helpful!
Quick question…. How much extra did you tip your butler?
If you want to tip extra then I suggest you pay what you feel is affordable and reasonable. On our last YC cruise we had really great service so paid what we felt was reasonable and affordable for us.
all cruise KZreadrs are recommending, that best cabins are in the middle of the ship ? But most expensive cabins on every ship are higher levels and always on the back !? :)
I know it sounds counter intuitive and on really big ships it may not be worth worrying about but the lower you are and closest to the centre line down the middle of the ship you are means you won't feel the roll from side to side. Being in the middle as in midship means you won't feel the pitch up and down. Like I said this is more of an issue on smaller ships.
Great video - I've not stayed in Yacht Club, but the food does look pretty decent. The prices for YC are really starting to climb though - let's see if they make the menu more exciting up there to account for the price hikes...!
(Also, hello from your newest subscriber!)
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! Ive noticed prices are climbing but we have managed to get s few good deals using the MSC upgrade programme. I'm a huge fan of yours BTW! My husband and I watch all your videos!
@@CrusieCTRL hi, do you have tips for a succesfull upgrade to Yacht club with the upgrade programme?
@@Ellen_T I'm not sure if there is a "trick" to securing an upgrade through the bidding system. I however would suggest that your bid sits in the "likely to be successful" end of the bidding price. Good luck in securing an upgrade!
Did the world Europa back in September for our first cruise and we loved it, but we vowed next time when we do MSC we would do yacht club for some tranquility as the main areas of the ship was complete mayhem! Is there a dress code for the yacht club restaurant? Obviously there’ll be a gala night (optional) but we’re just comfortable in casual shorts and t shirt etc 🤔
Hey there. Glad you liked your first cruise. Don't worry about dress codes for yacht club but it is recommended that you have trousers or jeans on in the evening. Im sure you'll be allowed in at night in shorts but you may stick out a bit. You don't need to dress up for gala night if you don't want to either! Happy Cruising!
so it was manic going to your muster station? Hope you don’t complain when it happens for real, watching a video ain’t gonna save your life. I make sure I know exactly where I’m going and how to get there physically. Can’t understand why you people constantly moan about 1/2 hr out of you life that could mean you spend the rest alive.
Thank you for your comment and I suppose you are right, and I don't want to downplay the importance of the must drill as a safety essential I just think there were more efficient ways of running the muster. However, you have given me food for thought! Happy cruising!
@@CrusieCTRL thank you. It seems every cruise vlogger has an issue with how bad MSC’s muster is, if you think about it’s probably the closest thing to the bedlam and chaos that is going to arise during an actual abandon ship. Stay safe Sir and keep up the nice content.
Used P&O many times for cruises but last time the cost cutting really impacted the experience. I'm not surprised at this latest development. I don't use them anymore.
Genoa to Barcelona in January is cancelled
Sorry to hear it. I think a lot of Med deployments will be effected.
@@CrusieCTRL MSC have offered to refund only the cruise portion of the holiday, but the plane tickets and hotels I paid for won't be refunded The cruise was not if a wartorn area. They have offered to rebook me on a similar cruise for a very short period of time, but they don't actually have any similar cruises in that timeframe and I will again have to pay for all the surrounding flights and hotels necessary. But what's the point if there's nothing similar available It's an extremely bad way to treat customers. Even a date change would be better than this. Where's the refund for the costs I incurred? Nowhere to be found. Totally out of pocket and not due to the war at all
Did you purchase the plane tickets and hotel separately? If so, MSC will not pay for the inconvenience. @@marcus.H
@@CrusieCTRL correct. Where I'm from, when I do something that costs the customer money and my company causes the loss, we don't reimburse their loss out of mere obligation. We do so because we know our customers can use other competitors and we want happy customers. Unhappy customers are not what I aim for My travel agent has told me to get my insurance to refund the costs, but I don't want my premiums going up. I believe that if the contract I signed when I bought the cruise indemnified them from the losses they caused to their customers this may be an unfair term as defined in the UTCCR law of the UK which basically says if a company draws up a contract and it gives them an unfair advantage it is not binding on the consumer. So they cannot shield themselves from causing losses to customers.
@@CrusieCTRL given the Northern Mediterranean does not have any kind of conflict going on, I can't see how anyone could argue that the cruise is cancelled due to the conflict. Now, I can certainly see the argument that it is more profitable to cruise in a different part of the world than to fulfill the obligation they have made to their customers in the Northern Mediterranean. I believe that arguement would not stand up in the law courts and certainly not in the court of public opinion Overall, I see a greedy corporation taking advantage of a conflict to make more money and hanging their customers out to dry while doing so. And nothing that the concierge desk will say to me will change that opinion. Where I am from we make customers whole when our actions cause them a loss. In many places that is a legal requirement too. The only way to treat customers with full decency is to give them what they want and then something extra when you ruin their entire holiday. To tell them "just claim on your insurance. Bye" will certainly upset those customers who now are lumbered with higher premiums and lost costs Overall, nothing about the way this was handled was acceptable and it has badly soured my view of MSC
Looking forward to our Euribia experience in the Yacht Club; about a month to go ☺️
Have fun! I can guarantee you will!
I agree about the charges that nickel and diming. I think It leaves a bad taste in many cruisers mouths. The whole point of cruising was all inclusive. Just up the charge of the cruise instead of nickel and diming if they want to make more$
I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thank you sharing your thoughts!
This was a terrific well rounded take on the company. Personally I dislike their clunky website but that’s why travel agents are worth their weight. They can deal with all the annoyances of booking and selecting options and all that. We are going on a 7 night cruise to the Caribbean in March and look forward to good vibes and good eats 😅.
Thank you for your comment and feedback. I too agree that the webpage could be easier to navigate, but I think that applies to lots of cruise lines. I hear from new cruisers that they don't understand all the options and find navigating the web pages difficult. Thank goodness for Travel Agents! I hope you have a fantastic cruise in March!
We have been on two MSC Cruises so far and we are booked for the YC on the Inaugural Sailing of the World America. We can not WAIT! 3 things we love about MSC 1. The Ships are extremely beautiful. 2. Bang for your Buck is better than any other Cruise line (Especially when you get into booking YC Level cabins) 3. The Food. While in our experience, there isn't a lot of variety, especially on the day to day comparison (Usually the same items on the Buffet) But the Quality of the food is extremely good. 3 things we dislike about MSC 1. The Customer Service both pre-Cruise and during the Cruise is Horrible. if you have to go to the Guest Services Desk for any reason it is just a nightmare. And pre-cruise the website is horrible. 2. So far MSC Doesn't have enough Home Ports. We are hoping they follow through with the Galveston Port, as well as hopefully something that will allow Alaskan Cruises etc. 3. How they bill your Card while on the Cruise. They tend to stack pre-authorizations on your card, but not only from one day to the next but they also add your current charges to the pre-authorization. For example Day 1. They will pre-authorize $200, and then you spend $50. Day 2 they will re-authorize the original $200 plus the $50 you charged day one, but they also won't remove the first pre-authorization. So after two days they have Pre-authorized $450. And this will go on for each day of the cruise. At least it did for us both times we cruised. This is actually our biggest complaint with MSC. And so from now on we are only putting Cash into our account.
Thanks for taking the time to do this video.. my family has a June 2024 Port Canaveral Florida Western Caribbean 7 Day Yacht Club.. first time with MSC 🤔
Thank you for your comment and feedback. You'll love Yacht Club, you won't be disappointed! I have made a yacht club review video you might be interested in 🙂. Happy cruising and make sure you "seas the day!"
Pizza looks both over cooked and old.
Far from it. The pizza was always hot and fresh.
Not kidding when we say this, but this is the best tour of YC we've seen. Mostly because you walked through, around, and up it in a way that helps to orientate the viewer to all the features, facilities, and locations of this unique space within the ship. Nice work sir 👍
Thank you so much for your comments and your feedback. I'm new to Vlogging so positive feedback is a great motivator to keep making content that is helpful and informative.
A great vlog with an interesting theme and question to pose. And totally agree on the delight that can be found on traditional, smaller, older ships compared to the newest giant floating theme parks.
Thanks again for your comment and views. 👍
Some really good insights, tips and guidance in your vlog David. Wouldn't disagree with any of that. And its really helpful for those still undecided if a Fjords cruise is right for them 👍
Glad you enjoyed it. 👍
Just wondering if you were cruising at the end of the season as the only time we've really had issue with lack of drink choice is on the cruise right before a transatlantic when they are going to change over to all the American versions instead of the European ones
That is sometimes the case but when we ran out of drinks it was smack bang in the middle of the season.
@@CrusieCTRL Ouch, that's even worse then as it wasn't like they were deliberately running them down and it is annoying enough then let alone mid season
My husband and I went in there, very disappointed as I felt I wasn’t very well and they charge charge me for the whole meal. I didn’t think this was very professional.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I totally agree the beds on Princess cruises are fantastic. Best night sleep iPhone at the same time .
I'm glad you like them too!
Those Princess beds are brilliant. Cheers Mo
Glad you agree!
Yacht Club is a beautiful experience, enjoyed the video, boarding Virtuosa tomorrow, yes we are in YC 🙂
Have a amazing time. 👍
17 is an unlucky number in Italy, because In Roman numerals, 17 is XVII. One anagram for XVII is VIXI. In Latin, vixi means “I have lived,” the implication being that now I am dead. So they're superstitious about it !🤣
I thought it was fascinating when I learned why there is no deck 17!
If you plan your own excursions and the ship has to change, it's tough luck🙄😒 So one saves if no change, but loses if it does. It's a gamble !
I always recommend missed port insurance.
