Why no stopper knots between you and the other skier? Without a stopper knot, all of the pull force is on the top skier until the fall stops.

Great video. Just preference but when you are backing up the system you can use a clove hitch that way you can adjust as you go.

Excellent insight. Still unclear about the double pole plant placement but will try it out on the hill. My alpine guide in Europe suggested the double pole plant but the corridor for the skis ion elevate and rotate had me a bit puzzled. Thanks for this. Will study it. But any insights to my observations above, please add to it, am learning to ski serious terrain slowly and with guides

For super-fast transitions (I.E. competitions) could you fold without unlocking the extension? I can see that it wouldn’t be the most compact and you wouldn’t be able to use the magnetic fold feature, but could you fold it into 3 pieces without unlocking the height adjust lever?

This would be the proper length for a resort (hardpack) pole. Our skis are lower relative to the pole baskets in powder snow. One of the first tips I give is to shorten poles by at least 5 cm - more for deeper snow. Otherwise the forward pole plant brings people too tall and shifts their weight to the backseat. Not where you want to be for powder skiing.

Doesn't removing the failed layers on the CT begin to give you false unstable results since you're removing the over-burden? Seems like its morphing from a CT to a deep tap test.

I just had a conversation with G3 customer care about the supplied skin savers being too narrow for the skins. I bought 130mm skins and got 90mm savers with them. When I fold the skin, it leaves two 20mm wide strips of exposed glue at the front. Just like on the video at 0:40 you can see a strip of exposed glue. It's just gonna smear against the plush when stashed and ruin the adhesion of the skin edge, leading to snow packing between the skin and ski base. It used to be G3 cared for their product enough to supply a proper sized nets for your skins. Not anymore. Their bean counters must have decided that buying only one width of sheet is enough. Who cares about the customer's complains, right? PS: Black Diamond and Colltex sell wider cheat sheets to properly protect your skins.

The most mickey mouse tip and tail attachment system ever. Useless, unreliable. My first trip, and both tip and tail had slipped off within 2 hrs. I''ll modify them and put a LOOP on the tip, and a length of 3/4" flat webbing on the skin tail with a fastex buckle mounted on the ski near the rear. Easy to clip/unclip. This keeps the skin under tension all the time and not even once, since I started using this system way back in 1985, has a skin come off unexpectedly. That's long before the supposed G3 experts designing and using skins were even born.

My first trip on new G3 gear, 2 hrs into the trip the ridiculous little G3 tip clip came off on one side. An hour later, that mickey mouse tail "clip" came off, and snow got under the skin. Pretty much as I suspected each would do. So, I'll put a wire loop on the tip, and for the tails, a 3/4" piece of flat webbing with a fastex buckle, half of which is mounted onto the rear of the ski using short piece of webbing and 2 screws. Same system I've used since the 80's and has not once ever come off. Worked flawlessly from long before these young testers even existed, much less had any history of using skis or skins. LOL "Market leader" haha

Thanks for the tips. My struggle is I feel with the skis on it’s hard to jump up, let alone turning in air, this is very much due to the additional weight from skis. Should I just try building more mussel on legs, or is it still an issue of my skills?

Nice video, good instructions, but I was unsuccessful. Let me first mention that my skins are not G3, but BD. Maybe the fabric difference is if some importance..? Removal of the old glue went really well. And putting on the renewal sheet also. But I wonder about the iron temperature..? The accompanying leaflet says 100°C, another video says 120°C, and this video says 160°C, which I used (Toko iron). After cooling to room temperature, the paper was next to impossible to remove from the glue. The glue sticked better to the paper than the skin fabric. A total mess 😔.

I pretty much figured out how to do this on my own over time of skiing steep stuff but this is one of my favorite things to do skiing. Not very popular opinion, but I am a fan of super steep shit, like the steepest thing I can find, then taking a bunch of jump turns.
