Dynamics, intonation, phrasing, enunciation, part balance, countenance, spirit (holy and personal), programming variety and best of class arrangements. All of these elements superbly present, yet each singer appears effortless in their delivery. While someone else could find 22 different singers (even 44, perhaps 88) who bring similar spiritual gifts, vocal experience and the same commitment to rehearsals, they would not deliver a comparable performance. I truly believe whether a singing ensemble calls itself a choir, chorus, chorale, chamber singers, glee club, choristers, vocal band or Ferdinand Singers, its conductor is the secret sauce performing at this level. Singers can come and go over many years under his leadership and this group will endure. It's fitting that the group has been organized under Dr. Ferdinand's name. An extraordinary performance for sure.

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED ON THE FIRST EASTER MORNING? When Mary Magdalene first found the tomb empty on that first Easter morning, she began to cry profusely, because she was hoping to complete his burial rites and see him one more time. Then a cemetery caretaker came by, inquiring why she was sobbing, and she asked him if he knew where his body had been taken. Curious, he looked in the tomb and said, "Well, he's not here, but you can see where he had been placed." No doubt, in the big hurry Joseph of Arimathea's slaves had been in to hastily wrap up Jesus' bloodied and soiled corpse and place it in the tomb, with barely just enough time to get back to Joseph's villa before the start of the Jewish Sabbath, pieces of the stained linen were stuck on the burial bed. Finally, Mary gathered herself enough to run back to where the disciples were hiding out to let them know Jesus' body was missing. As she said down and tried, through her tears and breathlessness to explain what happened, she recounted how there was something the groundskeeper did that sounded so much like Jesus...and then it hit her--"Do you think it was him? Is it possible the reason his body is gone is because he has risen again?" As the days went by, more reports of Jesus Sightings kept pouring in until finally, the disciples became convinced that, not only had Jesus risen from the dead, but after going over and over the many things he said, they concluded he tried to tell them about it in advance, "Remember, when he told the chief priests if the Temple were destroyed, he'd raise up another not built with hands? I got it! He was talking about the 'temple' of his body!" In the meantime, Jesus' body was just about ready for a quick funeral, after the slaves of Joseph of Arimathea had retrieved it the night before with the sincere intention of having it properly washed, anointed with spices and perfumes, a prayer or two, and maybe a hymn sung when, someone ran by the villa with the news that was spreading all over Jerusalem like a wild fire--"Jesus has risen from the dead!" Poor Joseph! How was he going to explain to Pilate that he had no intention of starting this rumor, that he was not an integral part of a conspiracy with Jesus' disciples to fake his resurrection! In all likelihood, he had his slaves dispose of Jesus' body in a secret location, bribed them to life-long silence and put them on the next caravan out of Judea, and took his secret to the grave! But the Good News Jesus preached lives on, after he demonstrated God's eternal, unconditional love when he died on the cross and, in spite of all his suffering, said, "Father forgive them [all]!"
