    Great character ideas as always :) you inspired me to create my own mainly warcraft/warhammer pantheon of aoe 4 characters. For some suggestions for future eldritch playthroughs: Nagash with tomes of the death knight mod and Lolth as primal spider culture with umbral adaptation. This combo is really good, because all fungal forests with gloom give you 6 knowledge. Another eldritch character idea would be the Absolute from bg3

    Toll of Seasons in my game (first game since Dragons first came out) was a complete non-issue. First it spawned in the lands of someone I was at war with, then it moved to my Ally's capital city. My Ally then, for reasons I cannot discern, just kept pursuing my wars and my bounties rather than ever defending his capital, which dwindled from 20 to 1 Population by the time I finished killing all non-allied opponents. It was honestly weird to see the AI just allow its *capital city* to wither away and perpetually lie besieged.

  • @Fableheim
    @Fableheim16 сағат бұрын

    If the Toll of Seasons goes after the AI, I think they just kill the Scourge and move on, so it will always reappear somewhere else. As for your Ally, that might have been an unintended consequence with Bounties. If an AI accepts a Bounty, they tend to put their whole being in to accomplishing it, but I've never seen one abandon its Capital to do so. 😅

    Hello everyone and welcome back to Age of Wonders 4! Shek'zeer continues to expand the Mantid's dominance across Pandaria, and Varian is only the first of many to try to put her in her place at 13:10. With the Fey themselves knocking on Kor'vess at 51:37, it was a pleasant surprise when the final Godir found at 1:14:52 turned out to be friendly; after all, the Mantid can appreciate the bloodlust of another who has absorbed one of the Prime Sha. Against half the world, the Underking stood by my side at 1:27:12 proving that maybe, just maybe, not all Blints are bad. Next time, *both* of the new tier 3 Tomes shall be unleashed -- thanks for watching! It seems that the Empress' defiance of lore has destabilized not only her reality but the Astral Sea itself! The developers are aware and working on a fix for the crashing, soft-locking, or otherwise terrible performance; in the mean time, you can learn more about and join the Open Beta (only on Steam) here: steamcommunity.com/app/1669000/discussions/2/4348870001150859647/

    When the “Children of Him” arose and spoke to the The Goat, He who is Him refused the title of “God”. Ultimately, he claimed, he was no different from any of the Best. He had simply rose as high and as mighty as anyone could have. It was not He who was to be worshipped, but his consistent struggle to become stronger. That has always been the driving principle of their culture, and he would be causing problems to allow them to stray away from it. Every one of the Best should strive to live up to their name. It is not enough to simply follow your dreams; you should be able to grab your dreams by the shoulder, turn them around, and throw them behind you as you climb ever higher. This is the philosophy of the Endless Mountain: A goat cannot truly ever reach the top of the mountain. However, as one climbs higher and higher, their ambition will be rewarded with greater heights if only they have the strength to pull themselves up the rocky face. Zeal is a power drawn from belief, and this is the belief that the Best draw from. Not some icon or a single ruler, but an idea that propels them into combat. To prove themselves deserving of being called “The Best.”

    I'm curious if Iratus and Kel'thuzad would be trading souls often to get on the good side of the Umbral Demons. Probably not. Kel'thuzad's master is very anti-demon and Iratus doesn't seem like the sharing type Also, could it be possible to make an arch-lich version of Kel'thuzad with the Eldritch Sovereign customization options?

  • @Fableheim
    @Fableheim3 күн бұрын

    I think that canonical Kel'Thuzad would be unwilling, but the Kel'Thuzad from my previous series would probably be willing to parley with the Umbral Demons. Iratus could go either way. Canonically, he hates Demons (Fiends in this universe), but the developers have stated in the lore Q&A that he "mimics and uses" ancient rituals in his pursuit of Necromantic power. He would never *side* with them, but I could definitely see him offering a bone to gain access to their magic. He may also make use of their units but not to any meaningful extent. I would say there's a severe lack of chains, armored cloth, and bones to recreate a 1:1 of Kel'Thuzad's Lich form, but you might be able to pull something off with the dangly skeletal or the male robed body form.

    The Mantid being created by Y'Shaarj is..sort of correct? The Aqir formed from the corruption from the old gods, and when the trolls shattered their empire, the survivors end up going to 1 of 4 places: Ahn'Qiraj, build around C'Thun, and transformed into the Qiraij; Ahn'Kahet, in service to Yogg-Saron, became Nerubians, and rebelled; Manti'vess, worshipping the dead remains of Y'Shaarj, became mantid; And then there were those who hid, and rebuilt, in the shadows of N'Zoth, in dread Ny'alotha,who remained Aqir.

    What was supposed to be the battle of Boarton turned into merely an overblown door knocking. Not a single defender was left in the city’s walls. Sandal thought that the so called “Best” were nothing at all. Not a single one was willing to fight his grand army, save a few drunken fools who thought they could be some sort of all-powerful hero with nothing but a broom handle. They hadn’t even enchanted their makeshift arms. So, Sandal split up his forces, intending to search for the defenders that almost certainly fled at his approach. And he did find them. In truth, Him The Goat had done a classic move. He invited overconfidence of his adversaries while being sure to lose nothing of value in the process. Overconfidence has claimed many of the Best, so what hope did this spell-crazed fool have? Not a single hope.

    To be one of the Best is to be superior to all other things. Or, rather, to not allow anything else to be greater. These goat like entities are quite fearsome, but they are equally juvenile. Any insult to their power is taken with deadly consideration, and is likely to be met with violent fury. They are so horribly insecure about not being the best possible lifeform that they will do just about anything to prove themselves. One is seen as successful in their culture by showcasing great strength in something, often related to force, leading to a sort of meritocracy where the strong rule and the weak serve to prove themselves. The one who rules them is called The Goat. They are the physical and mental pinnacle of the entire species, mastering arcane arts known mostly to Wizard Kings and wielding weaponry with a skill no others of his people could stand against. All of the Best seek to become “Goated with The Sauce”, and thus The Goat named their capital after the very pinnacle their people strive for every day. While they consider themselves superior, this does not mean that they cannot get along with other races. They call strong allies and foes alike Gotts (Greatest of Their Times), and depending on whether or not you threaten their species’ sovereignty or not, a strong individual may be able to create long lasting bonds. A prime example is the Little One Forsythia, who supposedly tore a disruptive one of the Best to shreds in horrific fashion using her magic. Normally, this would result in the Little One being curbstomped, but everybody audibly hated that guy and thus she was accepted as a brutal badass of her people.

    They also tamed wild raptors as their mounts. The only stated reason that we could get was “because raptors are [EXPLETIVE] awesome.” It is debatable if they even know why they keep Raptors as mounts anymore, or if they’ve been doing it for so long that they simply accept it as tradition. Addendum: According to historical records… they are being completely honest. The first of the Best to tame a Raptor simply wanted to prove he could, because it would be “totally goated.” The practice spread amongst their species initially as a contest, and then their usefulness was figured out later. This species truly baffles me.

    I will say that if there’s an Eldritch theme coming, there’s always been an idea I’d had for a playthrough. Some sort of “High Evolutionary” that puts together or molds races however it wishes. Your objective, playing as it, would be to hold dominion over every race in the world and transform them using race alteration spells however you see fit. Whatever is the Evolutionary’s idea of the “pinnacle” of a given race. However this is accomplished does not matter. All that matters to the Evolutionary is its artistic design, and logic cannot sway it. People are but characters in the stories it writes, and it is always unwise to try to fight the author. Basically, an Eldritch Lost Wizard that is so incredibly insane that it is obsessed with transforming things into their “ultimate forms”, much like how the Astral Sea did for whoever it used to be. Everything else is but a means to an end. Hope you like the idea! Whether considered for a playthrough, or maybe a decent end antagonist idea, or perhaps not considered at all, I just want to say thank you for the awesome and highly underrated content!

    Kel’Thuzad claims dominion over his home realm, killing the very being that made it all possible in the process. With untold power over the shadows and souls that now roam the world as readily as the beasts of nature, none can truly contest the Lich-Lord. He would only need a word to pluck someone’s very life essence from their body. The Hollow armor’s name is now long forgotten; he has been made into but another warrior of the endless undead horde, a tool of Kel’Thuzad of no particular renown. He was as revered as was any Bone Dragon that served in the protection of the realm. Blint the Underdark wanted to take this “Undersavior” back home with him, for horrific purposes that we can only imagine. Of course, the ever righteous Blint had seen his darkened shadow coming for him, and fled for Magehaven to counter this rising threat… the threat of himself. Antonidas’s absurd threats towards the end of the Age of Permanent Ends quickly made him a laughingstock. He had thrown the world’s new overlord out of his kingdom, and scoffed at the magicks of undeath that now permeated every part of society. Antonidas would soon become Kel’Thuzad’s assistant researcher, with the old master now being reduced to a mere servant. Kel’Thuzad treated him to all of the pains that he went through in the young days of magehood, like some sort of sick game to prove how the Lich-Lord was the true master now. Ironically, despite their initial mutual hatred, Antonidas became an expert scholar in the mixing of arcane and soul-weaving arts, becoming useful enough to Kel’Thuzad that he was properly accepted as a member of the new Undying Court that the Lich-Lord would have maintain his lands while he brought eternal life to other worlds. Smaug returned to Magehaven to seek out more treasures, but not before claiming the golden halls of the old gold-obsessed Wizard King for himself. No one but the dragon-headed gold golems dare step foot in there, made from the bones of old dragons cast in Smaug’s favorite substance. Another conquest, another hoard, another lair. Blunt the Underdark chased his doppelgänger to Magehaven, hoping to claim the head of the mole who dared to show his helm-covered face and use his name. Joining up with the strange mole's ally wasn’t what he had thought prudent at first, until he recognized the scent of shadows and schemes. Blint the Underdark was more than happy to tear apart countless enemies who thought themselves his betters if only so that he could see this doppelgänger feel truly threatened. And oh, how he relished to see that so-called savior fail and fail again. In the end, Kel’Thuzad recognized with Blint’s retreat that there were far more worlds to save. Not from tyranny, oh no, but from that simple mortal concept of a permanent end. Surely, his vast empire should span not just his own world, but far more? And when he made his way to Magehaven, he found a very kindred spirit in a fellow Wizard King, who wielded powerful shadow magic and made great alliances for his own gain. Some fellow by the name of Iratus, I believe.
