I don't know if this is a joke or if you're trying to justify a past action, but raising a child isn't just about fair is fair, it's a lifelong commitment that can't just be tossed on to someone because someone else wouldn't accept responsibility. If the partner cheated, you have no responsibility to raise that child and it is completely justified to not "step up".
