MotorScotti

Welcome to MotorScotti!

This channel is dedicated to everything in relation to my passion for cars, motorcycles and whatever has wheels and an engine. Mostly DIY repairs and modifications. Whereas the focus might be on one particular vehicle for a longer period of time, this channel is not just about the Peugeot RCZ, the Yamaha 1100 Drag Star (V-Star) or my Pontiac Firebird Trans Am KITT replica or whatever else might come up.
More then just making enterntaining videos, I enjoy sharing my experience and knowlegde with other DIYers and help them out by doing so.
Now go ahead, comment and ask questions and let me know what I could do better. Most repairs, modifications and service work you see me doing in my videos I do for the first time. Please be patient, experience and wisdom comes with time. :-)

Thank you for watching!

    Thanks for the videos. Could you answer a question for me please, just had my XFS oil and filter changed at garage and was invoiced for 7 litres of oil but it’s only showing 3 quarters full on dash same model as yours. Keep up the videos.

  • @MotorScotti

    Mine needs 7 litres as well, but then it's full. Sounds like your garage didn't fill as much oil as they billed. Make sure to check the level when the engine is completely cold and on a level surface to be sure.

    Does it really need to be all the way to the back with torx screws instead of normal ones? Can't it be as simple as all other car brands where the scoop is near front bumper and air filter has 2 latches (not brakable clips). For AC cabin filter, almost all other car brands can easily replace the by a notch in the glove compartment. No breakable clips or special screws that you can lose when you contort. Who's the genius in Peugeot making this a living hell even for seasoned mechanics?

  • @timsavvy
    @timsavvy6 күн бұрын

    In other other car brand filters, they have plastic frame and has zero chance of flexing (dropping debris) and and tearing while you pull away from a contorted position.

    Gearbox fluid for life. Was told by Mercedes in 2003 for ML-430 and CLK-320. Did a lot of towing with my Landcruiser, so didn't believe him. Changed gearbox oil on ML every 80,000km. Gearbox rebuilt at 270,000km. CLK rebuilt at 70k and 140k. Mercedes later came out and recommended 40k gearbox oil changes.

    Hi mate. In the oil filter housing the one way oil valve just below the black stick filter goes, I have problems with oil leak abit. Is there a seal ring/oring that goes between your silver metal plug bit of one way oil valve? Just thinking I should try some light seal/heat silicone with being metal to metal and oil drops of oil leaking as leaks onto cat and smells when hot

  • @MotorScotti
    @MotorScotti2 ай бұрын

    Every new filter comes with an o-ring that is to be placed on the plastic housing as shown in my video. If the o-ring has not been replaced or has been replaced without lubricating it first, leaks may happen.

  • @ryanscottcarnall4448
    @ryanscottcarnall44482 ай бұрын

    @@MotorScotti yeah mate I know about that thanks. I mean when you take oil filter cap off and take it all out, if you then look in housing at that black stick which filter goes over, looking just below it is the one way oil valve (no-drain valve). That with the spring . Problem i had was my valve was missing silver sink type plug so I'm not sure if there should be a seal of some sort as once I got a new one way/no- drain/non(oil)return valve, putting it in i have a slight drip after testing over sink after taking cooler out to change gaskets. Currently it's only a metal silver plug which sits in bottom of oil filler/cooler housing and wondered if there should be an oring or seal/gasket being metal non drain plug-to-metal filter housing? Would you try a thin seal between to 2 metals as slight oil drip?

  • @MotorScotti
    @MotorScotti2 ай бұрын

    @ryanscottcarnall4448 Okay, yes in that case I would try the sealant. Not sure whether it's gonna hold or if you'll need an o-ring, but you can try first.

    2 x things to know - cylinder head breather house will perish and need replacing. The boot not opening saga will happen to you unless you check the boot harness next to the hinges. The opening and closing of the boot over time bends and flexes wires enough to snap them=no boot release via electronic means. You have to use your emergency mechanical key to open each time🙄

    Thank you! If your car hasn't been used in a while, chances are the battery is a bit weak. A weak battery can trigger fault codes, even if there is nothing wrong with the car. Try driving it for a while or do a full recharge or maybe the battery slowly but surely has reached its end of life and needs to be changed. I had warning lights coming on randomly last winter and then decided to replace the battery. It was still the factory unit from 2009!.

Ones i've done that i have full power again , but this is not the way to go of corse => it needs to be replaced . it costs 750 euro's here if you can do it yourself .
