How do you feel about Ruby Gillis' situation? This storyline wasn't in any of the films and I was very surprised.
GOD DAMNIT. Why did Charlotte Brontë make me care about a love story so much.
What are your first impressions of John Thornton's mother?
What do you think of Anne's second proposal?
The tree getting split has to be symbolic of something, I just don’t know what
It's because Mr. Rochester has declared his love for Jane and declared that God has sanctioned their union. However, you will find out in subsequent chapters that Mr. Rochester is....spoiler alert................................................................................................already married. Therefore God can't sanction their union so the tree is split by lightening.
Margaret is beginning to adjust and understand Milton people a bit better though the culture in Milton is very different from what she was used to. What is your favorite moment in this chapter?
What did you think of Anne's first proposal? This event was not included in the 1987 adaptation of Anne of Avonlea, but it is quite funny!
