24 frets would be useless to most players!
Where do u get that usb dongle?
Do you mean the one that comes with the Tripleplay?
Wow, this sound! Great!
Can you have low action on that guitar? I've heard the fretboard is round like a fender strat.
I think it depends on your definition of low. Everyone who picks mine up comments on how low the action is, and I think it's lower than my PIA. Here's some info on how Joe has his www.satriani.com/2000/about/gear/setup.shtml
Hi, is this still for sale?
16:10 Why’s the gob open Dave? You think you’re headlining Wembley? Fking dogsdick🤣🤣🤣
Wonderful. Thank you.
Thank you 😀
Yeah ! Thanks
Thank you 😀
I really want to get a PRS Pauls Guitar but it’s almost impossible here in germany. Only some scam shops with really bad reputations got some or at least they say so.
Nice job my friend. Really sweet tones. I’m glad you love your prs I know I love my Studio 22.
Many thanks, I'm convinced they don't make a bad guitar
What you are able to do with a guitar is incredible. Also, I picked up on on the Satriani vibe right away, you nail that big time... so, I don't have an Apocalypse - but I did buy a Hellraiser Hybrid C1FRS with Sustainiac (Ultraviolet) recently. What do you think, how do they compare? Does the Apocalypse blow the Hellraiser out of the water? Anyway, I'm hoping to be 1/10th as talented as you some day. Thanks for the awesome video, Dave.
Wow, thanks Jim that's really kind, Satriani is my hero (met him last year again). I do try and have my own style but heavily influenced by him and to me I could only wish to be 1/10th of what he is. I've never played the Hellraiser but it's a great looking guitar and spec, I would think it's equally as good. You have a great guitar my friend, concentrate on your tone and technique. I use a Helix Modelling system for all my effects and amp/cab modelling.
Very tasteful! I really enjoyed all the work you put into this.
This is very good. Very tasteful! Subscribed. 💥
Thanks Kevin, I really appreciate that.
That is excellent tracking!
I have a Clapton Strat truly amazing guitar . I had a custom shop Malmsteen Strat - great guitar if your a shredder but I can't . 🇺🇸✨✨✨🎸🎸✅✅
Awesome!!
Great review Dave! I am thinking about a Paul's Guitar and your review really helped me out - thanks so much!
You're welcome, go try one out alongside some other PRS's make sure the neck and tone suits you.
Just come onto your channel and this is brilliant, looking forward to see more on your channel. Did you do the tabs or can they be brought, i haven't been playing too long at at 60 in July just keep myself to easy tabs for my own enjoyment and making the wife suffer 😂😂
Lovely looking guitar, is it a se model. Cheers
Thanks, no it's a core
Nice guitar Dave, sounds awesome. Big fan of the natural backs. Did you make any truss rod adjustments after going to 009's? Also you said Pauls guitar was to replace a Les Paul because of weight, how come you didn't go for a 594?
Thanks Dave, I expected to make truss rod adjustments but didn't have to. On the Les Paul question, I looked at the 594, Studio and Paul's and the switching and tone of the Paul's just blew me away. Maybe not a direct replacement, but just the best on the day (subjective of course).
@@davidupton8100 Thanks for the reply Dave I suspected it was the tone combinations of Pauls guitar. which you went for. I've got a 594 with 10.s on but I'm thinking of going to 09's
@@davebridge5580 TBH the 594 was right up there re: Les Paul tones, they're all great guitars. I have a Custom 24 which I've had for 12 years and that has needed neck adjustment for 9's but it's really easy, just very minor tweaks and patience. Also you typically need to adjust the intonation slightly. I love my Ibanez, Fenders, Gibsons (in that order) but the PRS's come top for me.
I have fishman tripleplay wireless and miditech pianobox mini2. How to set midi to play only on one midi channel. Now every string plays on one channel (1-6)
Does it still have the G Force? mine has it. I love it, but sometimes it is struggeling
No, I switched it for Grovers. I found it screwed up on stage, weirdly seemed to pick sound up (maybe vibrations) from other things and lose the plot.
@@davidupton8100 yeah had this too, and if you don't use it in a while it gets confused. but I still like it
Great playing. What kind of amp or pedals did you use for this video?
Many thanks Hans, I use a Line 6 Helix Floor for effects and Amp and Cab modelling so I'm primarily using a Soldano amp model here with a mixture of settings for clean and lead.
I thought this would be a review of the owners.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tone Tuner plastics, PRS....LOLOLOL. I have one PRS in my 65 count guitar collection. It's only an SE. Great fit and finish but it's the most lifeless guitar I've ever purchased. Not a nano ounce of MOJO. This here one youz did is pretty, but I'm still not a fan of PRS shape. I'm also not a fan of the man, the myth, and the legend, PRS himself. Nothing specific, just overall don't care for him. His success is undeniable as is the reputation for the fit and finish on all his stuff from bottom to top. Enjoy your guitar Dave
Jealous guy
@@miloupulinx4875 LOL, because my opinion of PRS and his guitars is not good, I'm jealous. LOL...mmmmkay
It's just that your post is so crass, and so out of place.
@@micksmith5641 You have a point. I must have been cranky when I replied. I'll be more careful down the line.
Thanks so much Dave. This review was calm and comprehensive and showed me everything I needed to know without actually having picked one up. I’ve had my eyes on them since the Orange version but with Sustainiac, the DiMarzio Bridge pickup and the lovely MCR which reminds me of my Cherry Red 1989 Sabre, I’m totally sold. Must have! 😊
Many thanks Marty, this guitar is right up there against some stiff competition. This is one of only 2 guitars I would never sell, no matter what. I hope you can get hold of one. Good luck.
You don't often see the faded blue jean top with the natural mahogany back. I much prefer that to the blue stained back. I just so happened to order a new 2023 PRS Core Paul's Guitar today. It was marked 30% off and I couldn't pass it up. It should arrive in 2 days. I have 4 PRS Core guitars and I love them. Also, beautiful gold PIA hanging on the wall.
You'll love the Paul's guitar, they're quite special. I love my Ibanez guitars but they're not PRS's. The PIA is a limited run, 120 made.
PRS guitars definitely fit my style of playing much better than Ibanez. I rarely play my 1990 Ibanez RG550 but that limited run of the PIA, especially in gold or panther pink just does it for me. I missed the boat when that limited run came out. Oh well.
@@ryanmcgrath9869 Yes, I do like the PIA although I don't play it that much now, I have a JS2480 which is my favourite behind my 2 PRS's. I do consider selling the PIA occasionally but I don't know if I'd get the collectors premium yet.
Love this demo! You did a great job demonstrating the features and tonality of this guitar! I have a PRS studio with narrowfield pickups. I really like the tone of the narrowfields. The Pauls guitar is intriguing to me because you can get the narrowfield humbucker plus true single coil tones.
Many thanks Mark, I'm glad you like it. I tried a studio when I bought this and the Studio was awesome, but I think I had my heart set on the Paul's partly because I'd searched for this colour, and partly because I wanted the single coil option. I started working on a video to compare the Paul's with various other decent guitars, hopefully I'll get this done soon but for me, the Paul's came top, just more clarity and articulation.
Coil splits are an easy mod though, I have it in my V with Alnico 2 Classic. Sounds incredibly
I'm not a guitarist, but if I was, I'd definitely be watching DU's reviews beforehand. Excellent reviewer.
Thanks Rich, I just make it up as I go along 🤣
It's a $5,000 guitar. It's going to be good.
Its kinda odd. The pia sounds as if it has a pre-amp or volume is much higher on the guitar. I wonder if the jem had a pre-amp push it a bit, if theyd sound identical. My gf just bought me a set of utopias to do the same thing. Im a little nervous though after seeing this.
I'm not disappointed by the Jem, it's got it's own sound which you can perfect with guitar/amp/pedal setting and it's easily got enough output. This was a side by side test so just showed how the two guitars compare with the same settings. You'll be fine.
Great atmospheric guitar track. So many elements in there.
very nice 😊 great composition too, nice one david and darrel! 😊
Thanks Geoff, this was a particularly addictive riff Darrell sent to me last year, I just had to do something with it.
Thanks for your inspiration ❤
Absolutely superb! 👌🏼🙌🏼👏🏼
Thanks Chris, that's really appreciated. 🤘
Very nice 👍
Thanks again Andrew
Excellent playing mate 💯
Thanks, much appreciated.
brilliant! im glad you uploaded this! 😊
Thanks again Geoff, hope you're ok
This is very cool of you to do this for people who enjoy listening to you play! This is the one thing that matters.
I always think if even one person has a happier day because of my music then it was worth it. Best regards.
I'm just here from your ibanez review which was phenomenally detailed. You play with a lot of feeling:)
Wow thank you, that's really appreciated
Thank you so much for making this video, it is super helpful to hear and compare!
Do you find that it lacks low end? I'm very interested in getting this guitar but I saw another reviewer say that it was good but too mid and a high forward. I think it sounds great and I'm not deterred from getting it, but I'm just curious if you or any other owners find the same to be true. Great video btw, thank you!
Thanks for your kind words, really appreciated. I never found this lacking low end in fact I was always impressed with the breath of tone. I don't however play much chugging metal so maybe there are better pickups for this. I did record this video though where I compare various guitars in a chugathon, make sure you play through a sound system or proper full range headphones, but it might help kzread.info/dash/bejne/aJyAu8SyZ7rYdKw.htmlsi=bSB9E2RsD4PpcQcw
@@davidupton8100 thank you so much for the helpful information and for linking another video of yours! Just subbed to your channel and looking forward to seeing more. And that's good to know, I will check out the video you linked and will listen closely. Cheers!
Apologies if I missed it, what's your recording set up here? Amps and pedals?
I use a Line 6 Helix Floor modeller direct into my DAW.
Your gear demos are spot on!
Hey, thank you so much, I just do what I'd want to know about, I figure it'll help others, I make no effort to promote the channel, I just do it for fun. It's great when people share their appreciation.
Wow !
Very cool track! Adding a bit of synths and vocals, I guess, coukd be as a frame for the brilliant. Thank you for sharing and keep going!
Many thanks, a few people asked for keys and vocals off this video, so I recorded this with a singer friend of mine kzread.info/dash/bejne/a32AtqaKg5DaiLg.htmlsi=WSCdOPCZ6TLUmQUm
You can immediately hear the difference between the two guitars! The PIA is definitely better!
"You can go and have a bite and you would still be hearing that one" - Nigel Tuffnel.
Fuck, he's getting even better 👀
Great!! It's very Knopfler! Love it 🎉
Thanks, glad you like it, miles of the god MK but I'll take that as a win. Happy New Year.
awesome man, can you share backing track
