Very nice. I’d appreciate the source for the music and dance. The dance looks (I think) like that collected in the Mevagissey/St Austell area.
Nice one Finn, proper job,
Only 14 likes? Well done whoever put this together. Cracking.
To say I’ve been looking for this is an understatement! lovely arrangement, as a young girl in Cornwall I love this song and we danced to these in school :)
Interesting, thank you
what fun I used to see Brenda quite often in the old Pannier Market in Truro in the 1970s and met Ben on several occasions when he helped me with my singing. They were both very funny kind good people .
400 years!
Racing the clout out of it - riding it like clown … Imagine Helston Furry getting hammered like a nail to this and you see how truly ridiculous this lot sound!
Absolutley thus the difference between playing for sessions and playing for processions.
@@cornishnationalmusicarchiv1885 - which is rather telling of sessions; much of the Cornish music is painful at such a pace.
What a tune....🙌
That lady can certainly dance.
so important to keep traditional dance and music alive, it defines us, Splann
Lovely!
Nice one, hope to call in,A30 closures permitting as ever!

Now let's see you march it at this speed ! c'mon, it's not a race to the end.
Pur dha! I need to find some Kernewek sessions and bring my whistles and Guitar!
The session has moved to The Countryman, Piece, on Mondays now.

Splann!
Very much enjoyed listening to this ! Thankyou 💐
Thank you for sharing this. I got the Topic record at a vinyl fair in Brighton a few years ago so find it fascinating to hear the background information and reasons for the recordings existence. Hope you're continuing investigation with spectral analysis and your visit to the BBC archives throws up more information, I'd love to hear the results. Thanks, Kaile
Hi Kaile, thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed the video and yes it's an intriguing story! I'm sure we'll be back with updates as soon as. Hope you're well, Kate
Never knew there were sessions for Cornish Folk! I'll have to learn some tunes on my Guitar and Whistle and keep an eye out!
Fascinating, thank you so much for posting this. Is the triple harp typical in Cornwall and did I hear there was a Prideaux harper?
All the music played in this video is from MSS and other sources earlier than 1820. The music is played by Mike OConnor and Barbara Griggs who have released the material for public use by the Cornish National Music Archive. Copyright of Denise Nankivells MSS is held by her surviving family. Copyright of Philippa Davies MS and the Rashleigh deed box is held by Kresen Kernow.
Nansavallen is a Cornish word meaning "Apple Tree(s) Valley". Great tune!
Nansvallen is the wood behind the 'County' Arms at Highertown Truro
@@michaelchampion3056 Thank you - if I had engaged my brain I would have remembered that!
@@deliabrotherton1285 you are more than welcome :-)
So pleased to have that glimpse of Kenny Pelmear. He was one of my teachers over 50 years ago and so nice to see an image of him again. As a child I had no conception of what great things he was doing, and would do to contribute to Cornish culture. A really nice man and a great pleasure to have known him.
I'm getting addicted to this:-)!
I seems I never get tired of listening to this:-) Meur ras and much love from this Brazilian! Kernow Bys Vyken!
This is so beautiful, I'd like to have the lyrics of this amazing song. Much love from this Brazilian who loves Kernewek, Kernow and trees:-)! Kernow Bys Vyken, and stay safe everyone! Shared for sure!
Marthys da!
