More doing quality over quantity but depends since I work full time I do have a question though … Do you recommend shop categories by product type or themes For example autumn or winter Or product type like notebooks or phone cases

well i dont think it matters too much if its manual or auto. Etsy likes to hold onto your money as long as poss. So if you have say 40 .00 ready for payout, etsy will renew 5 or 6 listings ,take the payment for any etsy ads you have going and then give u the rest . Iam i right or am i wrong .lol

I disagree on not using alt tags until you have more sales. Oftentimes etsy still charges a fee for google sourced traffic so this point is moot as they still get their pound of flesh.

Etsy is my full time job. Between filling orders and designing, I’m on from sunrise to past sundown. I start my day at 7am and depending on how many orders I have, I won’t call it quits till midnight. My breaks are a few dog walks. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are eaten at the computer. My family sleeps in late so on family days I manage to slip some work in before they wake up. I love what I do. I turned a hobby into a business so I don’t think of it as work.

Quick question that I’m hoping you can clarify, you say 2 hours minimum to design and post a listing each day. I take it you don’t mean a full two hours in Etsy specifically? From my understanding you mean the whole process of designing the product imagery (in canva or equivalent) and then posting to Etsy would be 2 hours? Not that you’re sitting tweaking that one listing on Etsy alone for 2 hours…

What if the design has been selling really well on the one product? I was going to use my best selling design on different products now taht I know it is a popular design, is this a good idea or not? Thank you for sharing your knowledge, your videos are very helpful 😊

Thanks for this great advice. My time spent per day really varies. There are times that I just can't give it all the attention it needs (dealing with teens and health issues), but I have been trying to be better prepared and making new things for fall, Halloween and Christmas. I've been collecting certain kinds of sea glass all year to create Christmas tree necklaces that I have already listed. I spent the last week out searching for sea glass, sorting and organizing it all so I can start creating again. Trying to get to 100 listings like you recommend. Right now I'm at 81.

The only ones that I have set to Automatic are the listings that are making sales. Every other one I have set to Manual. The reason I’ve done this is because it allows me the review the performance of them. If they’re getting SOME views, but not as many as I’d like, I’ll work on the SEO and Photos (and design if I think it may need it) and renew it. And some are listings that I think are quality designs, but not getting much attention. In that case, I’ll make a COPY of it, rework everything but the design and upload the Copy.

Definitely already had mine set to auto. Besides the benefits you listed, it's also one less thing to manage/remember. I started my shop in Sept 2023, so the new editor was already being suggested. I think you could choose to still use the old, but the new was the default. Since the new is what I'm used to, I guess I don't have much opinion about the old. In what ways was it superior?

  • @witchycraftsbyKJ

In the beginning, I had everything set to auto renew. But then it was renewing stuff that was dead sellers. If a listing hasn't sold anything, I don't want to renew it. Idk.. maybe I'm getting it wrong. But, that was my reason for turning it off.

  • @philwilliamswilliams1983

Hi, I am happy with the new listing editor, I got used to it months ago, is a matter of being flexible with changes! About setting the automatic button I disagree with you. I have them set as manual, and those listings that end up expiring after 4 months, is because they are not selling at all, so why do you say you are loosing sales? I take those, revamp them, change foto's, seo, and relist them, that's the way I improve my store! And by the way I am doing double the sales I was doing on last year.

I like the new listing editor, but then I just opened my shop in June and I've never used the old one. I can do a listing very quickly and efficiently in it so I guess that's why I like it, plus I have nothing else to compare it to.

Earthwise Emporium I'm bringing my shop back to life after life challenges, have rejuvenated expired listing and set as drafts and have several to list one a day for about 14 days, getting me closer to 100 handmade products. Will work on photos too. I make all my products, no digital products. Takes a lot of time but I enjoy making them!

Opened my Etsy store in June and just created few listings yet. I had not a batch prepared before opening so my listings are growing a bit slowly but I am committed to keep working daily to have enough listings to start making sells. Also felt motivated cause even I have a very few listings I had a couple of favorited items and even that was not even a sale was a huge motivation for me to keep working on my store ❤
