There’s a sticker on that unit that says “water only”😂😂😂😂
@@arturofromtucson6262 That is because if they didn’t say that, people would use just about anything to clean it.
Same man mine leaked when hot and fine when cold. Seems like me and you did nothing different though 🤷🏼♂️
@@6offdutyninjasN1 maybe a bead of silicone as a gasket might work?

This exact part left me stranded a year & a half ago on the side of the road w/o warning. 2017 Grand Caravan GT w/ 153 thousand miles at time of failure, cost me $800.00 to replace at a garage. My suggestion is, if you think yours is original or aged, replace it before it breaks down leaving you stranded in the side of the road. This happened on a Sunday, early morning about a half hour away from home.
@@bulbman7080 Good suggestion!
I just did one the other day and I didn't have to remove the caliper
@@matthewjingle8673 Good info for us to know next time, Matthew.
Why don't you talk during the video on what you are doing? Step by step
@@user-ez1oo6jl5c If you check out the rest of the channel, I actually do! This was my 19th try at posting a video! The channel has grown to be known now for exactly that what you are asking for. Step by step, talking you through each part.
Thank you!!!! Master Mechanics are so slow nowadays. They just figure they could throw black tape over the check engine light and call it a day. Problem. Solved, you pass e check, go about your day..
@@stephentorres2794 All you need now is to figure why the light is on, and fix that issue.
Ring the bell! 🐕

Nice. Thanks for sharing Mark. Great video 🔥😊
@@LakesideAutobody I am so happy I got her keys to work at a really fair price. No issues so far and it’s been about 3 months already.

I bought the amazon part from the description for my 14 town and country and had it blow out 4 liters of oil onto the shop floor. Took everything apart, inspected, double checked gaskets and oiled them up, but the same thing. Soon as I started the engine again, took about 30 seconds, then bubbling from the housing unit and oil all over the floor as it overflowed. I'm buying the 300 dollar auto zone version. Hoping for better results.
@@K.G.2 what did you torque it to? There is not much to go wrong with these units. Seems weird the issues you had right from the start. Keep us posted.
Hey uncle mark! We miss you at the shop to get inspection!!! This is the video we needed. Awesome videos btw 😊
@@user-dh9rx5mm7h Thanks for watching and hope this video help a few people.
where exactly are you putting that needle when greasing?
@@johnbanket7000 I was trying to get it inside between the hours and balls. If your cv joint is making any noises, just replace it real soon. We were not going far with this vehicle and not even much over 35 miles a hour for maybe 5 minute runs. Trust me, this is no solution.
Thank you
@@TheILV17 try and keep it clean and will try to keep you cool!
thank you you have saved me a lot of time, I'm in the UK and when I got towed to the shop ( like you said no noisy drive shaft or bearing noise working one minute gone the next) the mechanic said the shaft is broken. Getting parts here in the UK for American cars means ordering parts for the garage as apart from common items disc's pads etc no one holds them.I was about to order the drive shaft then I came across your video which showed it was the bearing support that had broken. When I said to the mechanic you mean the bearing support shaft I got yeah I guess thats what it is so thank you again for the video Uncle Mark
@@JohnMackenzieInverness Glad the video was of help. A big hello fro Manitoba, Canada, John.
I really enjoy how little editing you've done in the sense that you've included all of the tiny hassles that make the job a struggle. The stud replacement was super simple, but it's always one of the other little things like moving the brake that makes the job a pain.
Trying to find a balance between too little editing and too much. I am not scared to show my screwups. Also difficult parts I feel are important that you see, in case you have the same issue. Lots more Caravan videos to come! Working on one as we speak. Take care.
Thanks John Goodman
Your welcome, John.
John Goodman?
Probably wondering which John Goodman!
My headlights were yellow with oxidation, 15 minutes, a little elbow grease, and Mothers mag and aluminum polish, beautiful headlights.
Glad it worked for you. Sometimes, if they are bad enough, they require a sanding with 1000 & 2000 sand paper, then the polish.
Thanks, it's my radio 😢
Glad you figured it out, Danny.
Absolutely one of the 'best'' repair videos ever ! Ford engineering geared for disposal purposes. Glad you managed to get around it and help others do the same.

Thanks - good to know. Always good to see how stuff comes apart 👍
It is even better when I can actually put it back together! Lol!
This is so dumb. Are these designers 3 yrs old??!!
I think all the manufacturers have gone to this and now the new vehicles don’t have a dip stick for the engine either! Dumb for sure!
@@unclemarksdiyauto None the less, I appreciate the vid
Just what I need it to know what way is it to take bolt out 👍🏻 Thank you
Yep. It is backwards from the way you would think. Glad this helped you out! More videos to come!
@@unclemarksdiyauto I see a lots of people replacing whole tensioner and they can be expensive but pulley can be purchased for $20 I even sometimes press in new bearing 👍🏻
@@mikimiki195 It sure can be done cheaper than just buy & replace! And as you know, it can be totally unnecessary.
Pontiacs in Canada, were Chevrolets and not the U.S only Catalina, that had a 389 c.i.d with a three speed manual or a three speed or four speed automatic, (depending on year).
Supertech would lite it on fire where you at?
Manitoba, Canada. Not sure what was floating around the air. (I might have missed cleaning this last year…)
Has soon has I removed this part, I could see where the wires on this unit had melted the plastic on the connector. Wonderful.
At least you know your problem! Wonder why it melted? Hope you have it running soon. Let us know how it goes.
@@unclemarksdiyauto Not sure why the connector on the unit melted. The sealing O ring was missing also. Hopefully after replacement of these parts, the CEL will disappear. Good job on this video. Very helpful. Thanks.
@@ADAndrews-c7r Something seems strange, all these melted parts.
so how do I disable the fuel on mine which is a '97 Bonneville series 2 3800. Some will ask, why would you want to disable the fuel pump while cranking? Well, it's handy to do certain diagnostic tasks on the engine to have it not start while cranking. You certainly don't want to wash down the cylinders with raw gas. Very bad idea - creates wear and abrasion in a hurry in the cylinders.
I am not near my computer to send the link, but there is a playlist on my channel for this car. I change a fuel filter in it and I pull the relay. Take a look at the video.
Phil, not sure if 96 & 97 have the relay in same place, but here is where this one is. (Skip to the relay part) kzread.info/dash/bejne/m4Snqa5rdrqwmJs.html
@@unclemarksdiyauto thanks! Yeah the fuel pump relay on the '97 Bonneville is in the same general location . And btw, my old '97 Bonneville does have the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. It's handy, I easily checked the fuel pressure there once.

Wow is that snow on ground. here in the state almost a 100 degrees.
It is snow. Thinking I shot this video back in mid May. These videos are scheduled usually months ahead. Right now, we have had a pretty cold start to summer with many 39 & 40 F . We should have around 72 F as an average.
I wouldn’t give people this much credit best to hire professional you never wanna spray a chemical on a condenser without rinsing it away the coil and cause possible leaks in the future also evaporator should be cleaned also and it is nowhere as easy as you’re trying to make it sound for the evaporator coil
I have to agree most people should just hire the professionals. This spray is specifically made as a no rinse. It still wouldn’t hurt to rise maybe half hour later before reassembly of the covers. Thanks Robert for your comment.
not all model years have that access door
I have heard that! I will have to do a bit more research as to what year that stopped using this inner fender. (Make it too easy and customer stops going to the dealer! )
I'm somewhat curious about the proper level of transmission fluid. I know dealers check it with their fancy equipment, so in theory it should be at the proper level. But if all these transmissions are the same internally, then I'm thinking after sitting overnight or a few hours, most of the oil will come down into the ol pan, why ca'nt we measure it then, all levels should be about the same, has anyone taken a look at the level, after sitting overnight, and if we fill it to that level, we should be very close to a proper / correct level of transmission level. Right ?
The oil has to be at a certain temperature, that’s why I did it hot. But, it can be too hot and that will affect the level. Not too hot, not a bit cooler. The shops use a special tool that they watch for the exact temperature before they check the levels.
I have a 07 Grand Prix when I have the AC on.I don't hear the clicking coming from the assembly pulley but when I turned off it's allowed clicking how do I stop that
I am guessing that when the AC is on, it causes more drag on the belt which in turn puts more pressure on the tensioner, but when air is off, it allows that tensioner to rattle and flop around. Lots of miles on the car? Ever replaced the tensioner?
Bent fins 2 seconds after you said you didn't
lol! It is possible. These fins are easy to bend. (Just look at your vehicle radiator. ) They bend just looking at them.! The point is try and be careful & if you bend a couple, it is not the end of the world. This unit is many times more efficient now with all the fluff that was plugging it up (even if a fin is folded) than a not bent fin and the system completely plugged up. Now if you polled a hole in the tubes that the fins sit on, that would be the end of your cooling unit.
Great Job !!
Thanks Gerald. I hope it made sense. I probably could have shortened the video a bit more. I learn something about making videos each time I produce one.
You didn't show it turning on...afterwards
Ah, good point! Every video I do I learn something to include on the next one. Thanks for pointing that out. It did come on and she (the owner) was happy I got fixed.

I dont know why people remive the ball joint and tierod, more risk. Just pop the 2 bolts and nuts to strut and brackets holding the brake line and speed sensors. Thats it
Because on some vehicles, (especially all the older ones), those 2 bolts adjust the camber and once messed with requires a wheel alignment, other wise your ties will wear out. So instead of chancing this is one that might mess with the adjustment, you do the safe thing & pop the lower control arm.
your really low on oil how you should have shifting problems
Not sure your question. These vans don't have a transmission dip stick. So you watched the whole video and understand how to figure it out? This transmission is at the right level. It is not low.
