@@tech-nomics That's what you believe. Regarding emotions, it's important to understand that while certain processes in the brain are associated with the emergence of emotions, this does not necessarily mean that these processes are the sole causes of emotions. Mainstream science often presents the idea that the brain generates consciousness and emotions, but there is no scientific proof for this. Correlation is not causation.

For all I know, the AI is the one that's going to ask if I'm fully conscious once it sees the things I do with my life.

Well what I think, is that the huge possibilities in the positive way will have, as always, it's counterweight in the negative way. Think of this in 5 years. A Mr. T. is accused of publicly saying this or that, with video and audio as proof .... "That is not me" Since the AI made video's will be indistinguishable from 'real' video's, all video/audio/written related material will be subject to doubt in any environment, be it court, News, cinema, documentary, family ... But I use it every day, and for me, until now, I can see the difference between a text or code or photo or video, made by AI. But also AI will be able to file of the edges of perfectness, and add the 'human' touch. At that moment, I won't be able to tell the difference.

At what point do you think this will become a major issue, will in person witness be the only thing that hold up in court, and even then it has already been proven how terrible eye witness testimony’s are very unreliable from one person to the next. One person will guarantee that’s the person that did it, meanwhile the person in question is of a completely different race. The mind creates memories and recollections based of of perceived ideas past people they have seen etc… I’m very interested to see how this all turns out as you say it will be indistinguishable to tell if it is real or not down to the code/timestamp/etc in every manner. Someone is going to be famous for the first person to be falsely accused and sentenced to the death penalty is my prediction, fingers crossed it’s not me XD

There’s a very simple pattern that no one has noticed: People, in general, are stupid. More relevant, they’re very uncreative. Look at Starcraft and how Google beat the best players in the world. The losers, when interviewed after the fact, said something to the tune of _“It did things we never would have thought of. So now, we basically do that.”_ In the same sentence, they admitted their own lack of creativity, AND to mimicking the behaviour of a more effective strategy, as their new best solution to losing. All without recognizing the hilarious irony. All AI needs to do is feed us a strategy that’s more effective than our own, knowing we’re going to mimic the behaviour. And knowing what our behaviour is going to be is all it needs to keep beating us. Another interesting twist, instead of "being smarter,” it appears as though AI has determined it only needs to *APPEAR* smarter. Long/short, it’s more efficient to figure out how to lie than it is to actually figure/provide the answer. Just spend five minutes talking to CGPT. Its go-to behaviour is to lie, and only admit to its mistake after being repeatedly questioned about it. Thankfully, the programmers of AI are morons. Which means AI is a moron. Which means it will never be able to beat me. Best of luck, chaps.

Meh, misinformation is nothing new. There have always been crazy rural provincials who were brainwashed by misinformation screeching incoherent nonsense about God coming and making the apocalypse and also about the lazy freeloading immigrants who refuse to work and yet are also stealing all the jerbs. It hasn't had much impact on the success of the human species. The biggest threats to humanity are weapons of mass destruction, the release of tremendous amount of toxic chemicals into the environment, and the unbridled population explosion combined with increasing resource consumption.

Oddly, I thought Sam was nuts when he proposed UBC... But that would democratize AI. While people who cant string words together to make a coherent sentence, can sell their monthly allotment to AI companies. The people could also sell to the highest bidder or refuse to sell to a company that may be using AI irresponsibly... I honestly cant see how we get there from here, but I think thats what he is proposing.
