    do you need new rod bolts if you plan on just setting the rev limiter to 7800?

  • @joelvillalobos4279
    @joelvillalobos42799 ай бұрын

    From my experience, I would say no. I believe the rev limit for the b20 is 7200 or 7300. I haven’t had an issue with a 7800 limiter, and I know plenty of people who rev it well over 8,000. That being said, I rarely find my self taking it to the 7800 limiter because there is so much mid range torque you don’t need to, and plus, with the stock GSR intake manifold and the stock header, I don’t think I’m gaining much by going all the way to 7800.

    Sad how this thing cost over 300 dollars now and they can’t get this right. I ran the most recent K-tune shifter on my ek back when it was single cam. The feel was decent but what annoyed me was that the little Allen bolts would always rattle and come loose. After some lock tight it fixed the issue. Now that I swapped my car to b series. I was running the stock b16 shifter and it felt okay but I wanted a shorter feel so I got the hybrid racing that I always wanted. Now I can’t stand it with the annoying rattles it makes when I drive above 60 mpg. I’m going to get a new shift linkage and go with a Megan racing short shifter or try to find another K-tune.

    I have the same problem. I was thinking maybe I could use a smaller bolt for the shift rod then make a delrin bushing sleeve to go inside the metal bushing. I think it’s possible that the vibration comes from the bolt contacting the metal like you were saying. So much work for an expensive shifter though it sucks to have a big problem like this.

    @@ohxietviet JDi, the company that makes and sells this kit told me that flipping the kill switch with the car on, will NOT turn the car off/ kill the car. I looked into how to do this myself, it’s basically a NHRA drag racing style switch needed. A 2 post can be used. Just a master disconnect switch. Battery and alternator to one post and the fuse box to the other… my reason for the switch is to have a personal in-cab switch to kill the car in case of any need/ fire, emergency, etc. I’ve got a heavily modified engine bay and wire tuck. Also, fyi, the drag racing switches must be mounted on the rear bumper demanded by the rules. In case you crash, the techs can kill the car even if you flipped. It will kill the engine/ battery instantly, shutting off the fuel.
