Thanks! I figured maybe older than first impressions, since you seemed to have a few years of falconry under your belt... Harris's hawks sure seem to be cool characters, they are really social, and seem to figure out that you are one of 'the pack'. Do you hunt with him often? Your walking area doesn't seem to have much game opportunity, although WA, overall, surely has some good spots? Keep well!
@falconrywithkai2 ай бұрын
@lohikarhu734 Yes we do hunt, right now hunting season for small game is closed so as such we arent allowed to hunt unless season is open (typically fall to winter months) . I really do enjoy him, he us my first Harris Hawk of my own,I have flown several Red tailed hawks and 2 American Kestrels before him. He is super smart and has learned I am his buddy, it makes it super easy since he follows me like a shadow thorough thr woods as we comb for birds and other game. He primarily hunts upland game birds like pheasants, chuckar, grouse and other medium sized birds.

Fabio is really cool, like an imprint but without the typical imprint behavior problems. Kai should consider going out with a long stick to whack the bushes and stir up hidden bunnies. Cottontails hunker down when predators approach, it's their main defense. They keep so still that anyone could be easily fooled into walking right by and never noticing. But if you beat the bushes as you walk, you may flush a dozen bunnies in even a small clearing. Fabio would appreciate the help. Falconry is a partnership, right?

Awesome video. Any idea what species of mouse that is? Its tail almost looks like an opossum from being that long, thick, and bald. I hope YT doesn't remove posts like this because of the content. How many videos of wild animals like lions, cheetahs, and so on are there killing and eating prey? I say this because I know Ben Woodruff and others have had videos taken down showing people how to butcher quail and other birds to feed raptors, and they were taken down as "graphic content", although there are millions of videos of chefs and cooks butchering birds doing the exact same thing. Stupid double standards. Glad Fabio's doing well. Just some ammo in case YT acts like an idiot and removes any content and you need to press back against their one-sided decisions.
