Doug v Carburetor

Doug v Carburetor

Someone has to keep the knowledge and tradition of working on small engine power equipment alive in this world of disposable lawn mowers, electric leaf blowers, and green meanies trying to outlaw the smell of 2-stroke in the morning. Enter, Doug.

Very real. Do with what you have. I think you were pretty happy with your result. Good job.

Used it once and it worked in a surging 20 year old riding mower with a Kohler 20hp engine. It took maybe 6 gals of fuel.

hahaha. Doug all you had to do is put the 2x4 in the auger and put a crescent wrench on the center of the hub and turn it right, the center is shaped to accomodate a wrench.

Chicanic showed this stuff. You have leave it in for 24 hours. I just used it to fix a small generator that had gas left in for over a year.

How did you know the starter and compression/spark worked? Just by the sound it made? Do all small machines like this have a way to do an electric start?

It's also important to grease the shaft so the shifter can slide easier on it. That one looks way too dry. And clean off the metal plate will help it work much better. You never want to get any lube on the metal drive plate or rubber wheel, ever.

Thanks for the video, this is gonna help me fix a snapped valve in my Onan 6.5kW marine genset. Luckily it has adjustable tappets, so it's a bit easier to get tuned up just right. I enjoy your videos, you got a sense of humor, and you speak to a fellow poor man mechanic, haha.

That fuel line is not long enough and the diameter is too large to squeeze through the slot it has to fit for a Tecumseh HM series. good luck that the valve does not leak or jam in position. The filters are not needed as the gas tank has a screen.

I have been using them Amazon carbs on all my small engines for years. Not a single one has been bad. Mind you this covers back pack 2 stroke blowers, line trimmers, outboards and lawnmowers. For the price its a no brainer. And in almost every case it leaves me with an extra carb for parts if im in a pinch and need to help someone out rite away.

I had an interesting situation on a machine I found in the trash recently. The hex shaft was so gummed up with grease that the friction will what's still slowly moving into position after you've picked a gear. This would actually cause reverse one to go in forward if you had shifted into it from any of the forward gears. Basically engaging reverse one immediately after shifting from a forward speed was stopping the friction wheel while it was still traveling. After cleaning in lubrication the problem underway and it was actually much easier to change gears.
