It is poor practice to have someone or yourself step into a knotted loop. Also, it would be better had you shown the other knots budding ML's need to know.

Nice video. I was looking for the paddle float - found it (Palm Paddle Float Red). That said, I might try that by simply ziptying a float bag to my paddle temporarily...

Great attitude Ailsa. As a type 1 for 16 years now, I definitely agree that there are very few things we can't do. It just takes more planning and awareness plus more spare food than most people carry. I'm a Freestyle Libre user and the ability to scan for a blood result has made so much difference to blood glucose level management. Pricking fingers in the mud, mountains or on the water was always a big problem for me. Good luck with your career in the outdoors.

Many thanks for wonderful video, very clear, well presented and easy to visualise in actual practice. Am prepping for ML training and this presents the necessary in a way that removes any confusion. Straightforward and kept simple, always the best way. :-)

I have watched the Erik Jackson videos on rolling and his way looks more intuitive and does not get in the way of the paddle, he has his students lean back not forward when under water. He describes it as a hip snap. Any reasons why this method is different to yours? Erik Jackson has kayaking Olympic medals and his son is also a famous white water kayaker Dane Jackson. kzread.info/dash/bejne/anicpcWrqZOfhbA.html

This is good but there are tons of videos on how to do this. There don't seem to be any on how to clove hitch a sling onto a peg/spike one-handed. That would be super useful! Something I've come across a few times on trad climbs when a peg needs tying off, or a quarry/rock spike, etc. I've only ever been able to fumble something over the top or, at best, girth hitch a sling on. When the climbing gets pushy and you cant get hands off, is there a way to chuck a clove-hitched sling on?

good form. uses a strong hip movement using his hands in the water to push against, and a strong finish bringing his head up last and forward over the bow instead of trying to bring his full body weight directly over the side of the boat.
