How can you not love ZZ Top. Who turned me on to them well before Eliminator was release? Well it was Jimmy Lea of Slade who wrote about them in the Slade fanzine. So I bought Tejas on spec, on vinyl and never looked back. Dived in to the back catalogue in the early 80's all on vinyl and then along comes Eliminator and since then ZZ Top have had ongoing success. Also got that and various singles on vinyl and it all still plays really well as a lot was put on tape for convenience - so not badly worn out. Elwood fits in with the silliness of the band but also the serious tight musicianship which is a fantastic combination for any group to have. Superb.

Apparently, no one in my family has ever seen ZZ Top live. They've had the privilege to meet all sorts of people and watch them perform live. I will say, going to their show at the Louisville Palace has opened up my musical tastes to all genres they performed! I only knew 3 of the mainstream songs. I knew Dusty did his last show at Iroquois, and Elwood has a band based in Lexington... But dang, Elwood does a great job! Can't replace Dusty on vocals, or bass (don't get me wrong, Elwood does it right, but Dusty did it his way) but he keeps the beat down with Frank Beard! I sadly never saw Dusty, but at least I saw the remaining half.

Dusty is smiling his ass off!! ❤❤❤ nothing but love for my top 3 favorite bands of all time.. ZZ Top is pure gold. It just dont get no better. Billy is probably the biggest walking guitar legend around now. I like Clapton but come on lets be real.. in the 70s Billy was untouchable in terms of blues rock. His tasteful and explosive licks were absolute perfect. Every single album from 1970-1986 is absolute pure gold!! The way Billy would play from major to minor with arpeggios thrown in there when needed.. its the absolute epitome of Blues Rock guitarists. Seriously go listen to songs like Arrested For Driving While Blind and then try to play it an sing it... yea.. this dude is straight legend.. RIP Dusty ✌️❤️🤘

Elwood is filling those shoes mighty fine. He's a great fit with the band and I love watching them just playing some amazing music and having fun together. Like the slightly botched ending on viva las vegas where they got slightly out of sync and just looked at each other, sort of saved it and just laughed it off together.

Saw them twice, L.A. Forum and Anaheim Stadium...for only a three man band, they are one of the loudest you'll ever hear...RIP Dusty.

I believe that losing Dusty and Jeff Beck within a short period of time affected and inspired Billy to dig in to the same tunes and same set he's been playing for decades in a new way. He's never played better. I've heard this band live probably 20 times, and the last few times they were going through the paces. Nothing special, and it was sad. Apparently no more! Have Mercy!

I missed my chance several times in the last few years to see the band perform when Dusty was alive, but that Elwood guitar is the craziest thing I've ever seen and I go back to the days of fuzzy guitar. Oh, but they still have those made famous in 80's.

I bought Tres Hombres in 1973 and used to play La Grange full blast so all my neighbors could enjoy it too. I lived next door to a 2 story apartment building. One day a guy was banging on my door and thought this was it. But all he wanted to know is what the hell was I playing and where could he buy it, and he wanted it RIGHT now, lol.
