Zyko should've took that. Ben was good, especially in the first round, but after that it felt like his moves weren't in tune with the music.

I think Zyko won... as a dancer I think you must give credit to those who obviously spend a lot of time to have a number of original/signature moves to throw out... the other guy was cool, but after a round got repetitive...

nah, music specific/ in the moment moves usually takes precedence. the hard part isn't making the signature combos, its making enough variety of moves with different attitudes and vibes for different types of beats. Not just musicality, but the attitude and expression has to be reciprocated in the music.

+Cervello ya if Zyko didn't freak the beat, which he clearly did I'd agree to some extent, but again repeating the same movements is not a good look... Also being out of control at times and sloppy is not a good look either...

bobby brown sloppy depends on how you manage the music. some people confuse abstract with sloppy. ben has shown consistently that he's in the abstract category, because of how he changes direction and how he changes tempo. It's only sloppy if if it rarely happens, but that's the majority of his movements, and he shows great control in them. style doesn't matter, its just groove, attitude, and proficiency in each move that matters. for me, especially in the first round, zyko relied on the same rhythm a little too often, so his musicality felt stale. the second round was a lot closer though

Wow...no wonder people like Les Twins and the likes have massive fanbase if that's what dancing has come to. Reason people don't understand why Ice-e does so well is because he most often freestyles and without any concepts like many other dancers. Having a signature move is cool and all but I think killing the beat, being clean, creative, musicality and all that is on way higher priority list than giving someone "creds for having signature moves" The other guy is Ben and has been one of the better European hiphop dancers for past 5+ years. He has won some of the world largest dance battle events such as Juste Debout, World Dance Colloseum Japan, SDK + many many more. He has already wellknown hiphop dancers attend his workshop and is almost known by anyone who battles in hiphop and even outside hiphop.

Michael C Ya, without getting to much into it, I've won my far share of all style, freestyle dance, house dance, and bboy competitions here in the USA/California dating back to early 2000's.... That being said my opinion is on a case to case basis, and is specifically about this battle... no need to mention the les twins, as I personally think they are very repetitive as well, but they also have a lot of copy cats out there so I give them there credit for there musicality (specifically head and ankle isolations).... Now im not sure what you dance experience is, but after give you a generalized run down of mine, ill say this all freestyle dancers have certain movements that they are comfortable with and thus repeat... Its the arrangements that change and that are freestyled... So that being said, lots of us successful freestyle dancers have patterns and movements we've created, and some of us dig a little deeper in the lab than others... So credit also needs to be give to the thought process and time put into that, especially if those movements are executed flawlessly and on beat... I now dj on a high level and I have a shit town of transition tricks I like to pull out throughout the night... sometimes I come up with an idea on the spot and with confidence I execute those flawlessly most of the time also as I don't fear making a mistake... but repeating songs is an absolute NO for me, and I hear dj's repeat songs all the time... So I never said one dancer was wack, I just said in regard to this battle given what I saw, and given my experience on the matter I came to the opinion of who thought won and why.... respect your opinion though, and peace...1
