ZWO ASI 071 MC Pro Several Years Later. First Impressions of a Legendary APS-C
When I bought the ZWO ASI071MC PRO, I found myself pondering over whether I should invest in the newer 2600MCpro. With a remarkable 7 years having passed since the release of this legendary camera, I couldn't help but question my decision.
As someone who still needed to acquire filters, is primarily focused on monochrome astrophotography and another monochrome camera on way the price of the 2600MC seemed a bit steep and the 071MC PRO seemed to be priced just right.
However, I decided to take a leap of faith and purchase this seven-year-old camera new and perfectly timed with galaxy season upon us. With an abundance of broad spectrum targets at my disposal, it's the ultimate test to determine if I will fall in love with this camera or be left disappointed.
Will 16MP prove to be sufficient? Will I encounter the dreaded sensor frost? Join me as I embark on this journey, capturing my first photons with the once-reigning king of the APS-C cameras.

Hello Anlita quard band filter has blue green and red bands with one band of ir band Zwo 's cmos sensors came with uv and ir cut filter. I Think 071 is best for quard band filter. I heard from youtube quard band filter is king of osc. I wish one day you will try with anlita quard band filter with 071 Thank You

Awesome!! I like to crop in too, however sometimes you just don't want to crop out all the little galaxies 👀, I have shot the pinwheel only once (so far) and made two versions. One crop and one not. Hope to get as much detail as your's next time. Peace bro

At 1k or below. Check astromart on the used market and last time I checked highpoint scientific was selling it new for 999. Don't for get zwo direct. Sometimes they have refurbished ones.
I was choosing from 071mc and 533mc and ordered the second and same filters. How do you compare these cameras? What means Dark flats?

It's funny you mention that. I also just got a 533 that I'm testing. I'm sure I'll have a video on it. Dark flats calibrate your flats they basically dark frames with the same exp as your flats.
