ZUIHITSU: The Japanese Essays Everyone Should Read
Zuihitsu has been described as a super-genre of "genreless" Japanese literature. Scholars point to "The Pillow Book" as the ur-text, its influence being felt throughout Japanese literary fiction but also modern Western fiction and non-fiction. Thank you for this terrific talk!! Teaching Zuihitsu in my Ireland workshop: Muse on the Move….
I really love this. Your explanation of zuihitsu is great. For a long time I been looking to put a name to the slice of life style of writing I enjoy so much and now thanks to you I have a name for it. Thank you. I hope you will dive deeper in to this style.
