最正美食Sri Petaling Pasar Malam’s Best

Dear friends
I must say, to get this episode on air is a miracle. You see I was using the new
MacBook Air which I just bought a few days ago to render my edits since I saw great reviews on how it can work perfectly with the FCPX editing software. Did you know in the process of editing this episode over 3 days, my computer must have crashed at least 200 times. Since this video was edited on a newer software, I couldn’t even transfer the edit to my old computer. Lately, I’ve been spending quite a lot of money, on top of buying a new computer I also have to purchase a new drone to replace the one that crashed. Sometimes I wished I can make more money from KZread. Sorry, but I needed to get it off of chest, meanwhile please continue to give your support to the local street food. Many thanks and see you in the next video.

It is true that most Pasar Malam is a duplicate, except for a few like Sri Petaling, Taman Connaught, etc. There is always a new introduction food that normally will hit the Pasar Malam first before going main stream, Sri Petaling will be hit first. Pasar Malam was where I hunt for my pirated VCD and DVD which is cheaper from the shops, my collection is all obsolete now, a waste of money. Those who had bought those original VCD and DVD would have suffered even a bigger loss. I have not talked about my music cassette tape yet.

Apart from all the usual Pasar Malam food , this Sri Petaling does really have "special food and drinks" to show-case. It's the first time that I see cocktails being prepared and served in a Pasar Malam. The salted baked crab could be another "first" being offered. It's really rare to be able to drink a great "Wan Tau Long" cooling drink and with this current hot weather - I think it's a must ! So good to see young entrepreneurs selling good traditional food (eg. Teowchew cake) and taking over ( or helping ) their parents to continue with their great offerings to the public in this Pasar Malam. Thank you Elmo for this Pasar Malam episode ( with really good spread of old , current and new innovative type of food ) without forgetting Danny - always ready to lend a helping hand too in every aspect. Again - it's a Yatt Lau episode and "Mou Tak Deng" as always !!! 👌👌👌

Elmo and Danny have produced another worthwhile and informative video regarding pasar malam eateries . I have visited KL for the last 50 years BUT very rarely visit such places as all my former class mates only eat in restaurants or stalls . Moreover , hotels have no facilities for one to eat such delicacies in the room . How I envy you all . 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋

The is my main concern that I am not able to consume my food on the spot. If it is a large crowd, you have to eat on the move. There are some stalls which have makeshift tables and chairs which you can eat there. I don't know why you cannot eat at your hotel room which I do very often, only durians and heavy smelly food like smelly tofu are banned from hotel.

Great job Elmo & Danny for sharing the sri petating pasr malam on every tuesday. Fyi Sri petaling pasar malam had operate more than 30years and had been rank the Biggest in KL. On 2017, pasar malam have to relocated to new place ( parking Lot) till now. Many visitors are drops till 80% and hawkers has stop their business. We on behalf of association hopes you and your companion can video again (if Not raining) cos there are many new foods and stall despite raining. Your videos will makes a lot of different and helps to boost the pasar malam industry, TQVM.

Thanks for remembering the good things about Singapore pre 90s. Indeed, the people considered themselves as one community linked by the Causeway. Problem is due to bad people in Sg government, Singaporeans, and also many newly converted ex Malaysians were indoctrinated to become kiasu and self centred and it does not help the country under DS also sold the people out by permitting casinos and signing CECA, many of such policies which have gradually eroded the divine blessings on Singapore as a country and people. Glad to see that Malaysia in the past few months is going back on the right track of development and national progress. Sri Petaling is really a top pasar malam in KL but nothing beats the good old days of gourmet food with reasonable prices at Tiong Bahru Market.

Hi Elmo .. yes, our MRT is fantastic in allowing everyone to be connected from almost every end of the places but however their facilities are far cry from being well maintained . Took the MRT once ...the ride was good but the escalator was not working and the toilets were is very bad conditions. Anyway back to the video on pasar malam ... i think pasar malam is our Malaysian culture irrespective what race we are , its a place where we can unwind , buy snacks or weekly groceries suppy plus even some household hardware items . We cannot take that away from our malaysian cuture . Love that this pasar malam has some pretty nice food ! The cocktail stall is a new concept !

Your research and info on the historical background of each episode must really take a lot of effort and time at your end. I do enjoy your recommendations on the food scene and was wondering whether there's good Chinese food here in the vicinity of Sepang. Just moved in a few months ago to this area and have to admit the scarcity of Chinese delicacies around here. In regards to hardware, I'm not too sure which is better mac mini m1 with active cooling or your macbook air. The m1 mac mini has active cooling which macbook air lack. If it's not too late, perhaps you can return the macbook air and swap with mac mini. Do not forget to increase the RAM to 16 GB. Good luck.

Malaysia is not a 3rd world country. Not at all. It’s not 1st world yet, but it’s far from 3rd world. Infrastructure in terms of road, public transportation, medical care, networking is pretty good, water supplies are plentiful, food is abundant in rural areas, and we access pretty good internet connections. We are not in Utopia which is a 3rd world nation. Of course Malaysia has a number of social and financial challenges, but far from poverty and it’s manageable. Compared to some of our neighbouring countries in Asia, Malaysia it’s a fairly well developed country and a decent nation to live in this high technology world. Singapore government did not classified pasar malam as a 3rd world living.😅

Hi Elmo, I think you are glorifying a lot of coffeeshop food with 3rd world environment. There is no improvement and upgrade of the 3rd world coffeeshop in the last 50 years as compare to North East Asian countries or Singapore. For some reason you relate good food with 3rd world environment. Most foreigner regard the shophouse in PJ, Kepong, Cheras etc as eyesore usually corner shop with no air-condition coffeeshop and is totally different for al fresco dining in 1st world. Some also comes with eyesore tyre shop nearby. A lot of these coffeeshop still using open drainage next to it. From the video you presented of most of the stalls just looks like 3rd world just as it was 50 years ago in other countries. You should comment and encourage stall owners to upgrade and continuous improvement to live in the 21st century. Another word for it is Growth Mindset.
