For The First Time (1959) #WarnerArchive #WarnerBros #ForTheFirstTime
In his final film, Mario Lanza plays world renowned opera singer Tonio Costa who is as brilliant as he is profligate. But when Tonio falls head over vocals for the beautiful and deaf Christa (Johanna von Koczian), he sets out on a musical mission of mercy, combing the capitals for musical specialists. For only when Christa can hear Tony sing, will he in turn hear her say 'I Do". Also starring Zsa-Zsa Gabor.
Directed By Rudolph Maté

Well, indeed she was ingenious! In Hollywood she played a kind of Hungarian accent, and when she visited Hungary her accent was vice versa.

She was fun. Saw her once riding a horse at the 84 Olympic preliminaries. Forgot the name of the horse track, north of L.A. She looked good, but was there to ride, not to compete.

Communism did nothing to benefit Hungary. The Hungarians did not ask the Soviets to invade it either. If Hungary was ok during tbe soviet occupation it was because the country was strong before it invaded. If hungary is poorer today it may not have recovered from the occupation and other developments in more recent decades.
