Rare is the film where the tactics are entirely correct. Then again her whole motive is retrieval of a stolen commodity that's unknown to her. If she's 100% sure that's something on his person, then killing him would seem to be a viable option. Anyone loyal to her false father can frisk the corpse. If it's something he could have stashed or what-have-you, the worst she can do is wound him. She needs him able to talk in that circumstance.

This just proves what a prodigy Alejandro was, he attained superior skills in a few years of training with Diego than Elena who was trained since 4.
