Zorro Duels With Montero And Love | The Mask Of Zorro
Фильм және анимация
Alejandro goes to steal the map leading to gold mine from Montero.
The Mask Of Zorro: When a power-crazed despot schemes to buy California from Mexico, it takes two Zorros--the legendary Don Diego de la Vega (Anthony Hopkins) and his chosen successor Alejandro Murrieta (Antonio Banderas), a dashing bandit-turned-hero-- to defeat the tyrant's unscrupulous plans. But can even their combined skills, bravado and derring-do be enough to achieve de la Vega's ultimate goal: revenge against the man who killed his wife, kidnapped his daughter and held him prisoner for twenty years?

Disarming Love's sword with the intent of handing it back to fight him 1-1 is just so, so dope. It's as if he's helping him like "Oh let me get that for you there". And the entire getting rid of the guards just so he can fight Love in peace, man I love this movie.
the chills I get @ 1:46 after Zorro shoves Love away and you can see the sheer contempt in his face just as the music signals Montero’s entrance out of nowhere and Zorro just around to face a relentless assault by what is obviously a more seasoned and refined duelist in Montero 🔥🔥
As much as Zorro despised Love, he still fought him fairly. I love this movie!

Martin Campbell is a director that proves you don't need a lot of CGI hoopla to make a great action movie. When it comes to these classic action thrillers like this, Casino Royale or The Foreigner, the guy just knows what he's doing. This movie is 24 years old and it's still goes hard. The fighting coreography of this movie is amazing. Every soldier is trying to do something, but Zorro is fending off all of them with ease. There's no one waiting their turn, no petty queue of villains and minions waiting to enter the fray. Everyone here is trying to do something while the hero is nullyfing them all with their perfectly calculated moves and impecable swordmanship. I love this movie.
The stunts and fights choregraphy is one of the things that made this movie a great one. But of course everything is really good in it : the soundtrack, the story, the lisibility of fight scenes (no shaky cam, no quick cut), the chemistry between actors... It's really one of my favourite film. I can rewatch it again and again without be bored.

My favorite aspect of this is that for as good a showing as he's clearly putting on during his first true outing as Zorro here - he's still clearly got some work to do. He gets out-maneuvered and disarmed a few times, and the older Montero even more than keeps pace with our freshly minted hero; yet I think it works better for the story than having him be flawless right off the bat.

I would say Monteiro almost defeated him in the first duel (it was only Love intervening and hampering Monteiros dueling style that saved Zorro) and in their second duel Monteiro won the blade interlock and pushed him back. Zorro definitely wasn’t up to beat Monteiro here and is lucky he wasn’t forced to a one on one with him as he clearly would’ve lost

2:54 it's like the music is celebrating the fact that Alejandro's training has paid off. The fact that he's fulfilling what was more than likely a dream of his. You see the fun he's having when he's fighting Tornado's previous owners, but now you see the grace that is just as essential to Zorro as fencing.
I like the difference in styles. Love, a typical cavalryman favors a more aggressive and heavy handed style not unlike a saber weilder. While Zorro utilizes an intercepting and trapping style using more subtle moves and feints. Both styles fit their users personalities perfectly.

I love how Zorro just tosses Love his blade. It's like he wants to see what he can do against a trained soldier, but also wants to be honorable at the same time

R.I.P. James Horner Orchestra
I'm noticing how frequently they recycle footage from different angles to make the swordfighting exchanges seem longer. You can see it at 1:49 and 2:06. And at 2:45, they literally replay the same one-second exchange four times in a row from three different angles. It's a low-tech, yet effective little camera trick, isn't it?
So polite, I love it. And the Capitan actually managed to disarm him, most impressive.
Zorro is a character that will always be captivating.
I have so much admiration for actors and actresses that learn how to sword fight for these types of roles. Even though, it's obviously choreographed, it's still a very difficult craft to learn, and takes a lot of dedication. Shout out to all the actors and actresses that go through that process to perfect their skills for (what they know at the time to be) one movie role.

Funny movie and great score by James Horner.
A wise fighter uses his head in both his skills and his strengths, whereas a poor fighter uses his head in only his skills but becomes emotional in his strengths. Montero and Captain Love were relying too much on their emotional strengths and only using the mentality of their skills at a lesser percentage. Which is why when Montero said "kill him" and they charged, they didn't take into account the large display map behind him that he used to cover his escape. Both their pride in their numbers and their emotions proved to be their weakness.
