    No, there was storm so his ship got away. That is all logical and common sense. I would have vigger probleb with Mihawk leaving him at Baratie. I'm OK with Mihawk loosing interest in him but he openly attacked him. Mihawk should throw a shot as goodbye before disappearing.

    I mean, he’s fine as a villain, but probably the second least memorable villain in the East Blue (right above Axe Hand Morgan). And his fight maybe dragged a bit too long, especially after the way cooler fight we got with Mihawk and Zoro. I do miss Gin though. And that one scene where Sanji feeds him even though he is a very evil man, putting Sanji’s values to the test.

    The reason Koby is initially small and then has a growth spurt after training is because I believe in an SPS Oda explained that a character’s appearance can appear more stunted, ugly, or old if they don’t follow their dreams or ambitions which explains why Koby was so small and frail in the beginning but once he had his mind set on his dream and trained then he became more accurate to his age and became more attractive

    So I see this with you, Jack, knowing that you watch the anime subbed. I wonder how it feels for you to hear these characters speaking in English. Watching the anime dubbed, I love how the live action Mihawk’s voice sounds almost identical to the dubbed voice for Mihawk in the anime. Years ago, I watched a Hunter x Hunter stage play on KZread where all the original Japanese voice actors for Gon, Leorio, Killua, etc were the live actors of their respective characters. It was so cool to see back then, and honestly, this live action gives me the same feeling for One Piece.

    12:54 Luffy wrote: "Mokey D Luffy (because Zeff called him) treasure tab". That treasure tab joke comes from a joke in the ASL arc when they go to eat ramen and Luffy lefts a piece of paper where you can read: "treasure tab", and here they explain his reasoning to do that. Also Ace in Drum island goes out a restaurant without paying, so you can guess they did that since kids (mostly Luffy than Ace, but Ace didn't pay either) :P

    Live Action Mihawk is so close to a perfect recreation of the OG Mihawk (or as perfect as a Live Action one can be to the OG). He’s aloof, refined, bored by a lack of challenge, dismissive of his enemies until convinced to be otherwise, highly skilled, and terrifyingly powerful. Up until he stabbed Zoro with the knife, he was perfect. But then he wasn’t, because he was missing one thing: respect for Zoro. The original is impressed with Zoro’s resolve and honor as a swordsman; he calls Zoro “strong one”, smiles at Zoro’s swordsman’s shame line, and his promise/challenge to Zoro is earnest. I didn’t pick up on any of that from Live Action Mihawk. There was no shift in how he spoke his lines, no change to his expression, nothing at all that I could interpret as anything more than curiosity. OG Mihawk’s final speech gave me the impression that he saw Zoro as a genuine contender; a man who, if his strength and skill caught up with his spirit, could give him the challenge he’s been searching for. Live Action Mihawk’s final speech, despite several lines being similar, gave me the impression that he still saw Zoro as an insect, who only interested him because he was a butterfly instead of the mosquitos he usually swats away.

  • @thestarkster9940

    @thestarkster9940

    9 ай бұрын

    There is a subtle shift when he says "Why don't you retreat?" if you listen closely. His usual bored indifference is gone. After that, he switched back to his usual airy tone, as if composing himself. Granted, it may not work for some people but personally, I appreciate the subtle acting choice that is different from voice acting. As someone who saw this scene in live action first then went back to check the anime version, the scene in the live action gave me the same sentiment and understanding as what you said. Perhaps it's because I didn't have the anime to compare to, so Mihawk's intention in the live action is clear enough for me.

    The reason this series defaults to setting a lot of sequences at night is because blending CG elements is significantly easier in any lighting scenario that isn't natural daylight. Our eyes perceive natural daylight so much that we can very easily tell when something isn't real in that setting. This series leans very heavily on nighttime or otherwise artificially colourful lighting as a way of making it easier to integrate CG elements. Be it CG characters or simply greenscreen backgrounds (which there is a ton of in this show. Honestly probably 80% of all shots in the series have CG backgrounds). That's why Buggy's episode took place in a dark circus tent with tons of RGB lighting. All that crazy unnatural lighting helps to more easily hide the imperfections in the CG that you absolutely would've noticed if it was set during static daytime lighting. Tldr; They set a lot of things at night instead of daytime because it makes doing CG work way easier for the VFX team.

Everyone else is involved in their own stuff & wouldn't even notice him, unless they were in the same field - like Zoro - or he bothered to call attention to himself for some reason. Not saying he couldn't be recognized, just saying its very normal for him not to be, particularly in an out of the way "weak" area like East Blue is overall supposed to be

    The live action is faithful in all ways that matter, and that is probably what IGN did not like - the fact that its actually good XD

    Jack, you need to watch The Buu Bits, TFS are releasing bits of the buu saga and its Just Gold. I also like to believe that If we make enough noise, they can come back with the series!

    I’m surprised Oda allowed the “I didn’t know I could do that” line considering it’s one of the very first moves he learns after he gets the power

    It’s funny how people didn’t know, but I understand why, that’s Coby was a teenager on episode 1 lol. I find it funny people do the same with Chopper and he’s also a teenager

    IGN saying that sounds like they haven't watched or read the source material or it's been too long time for them. There are a lot of changes but of course they have kept the most important events from the manga. That's what you wish would happen with an adaptation and it did here! And I honestly really like the changes they have made like expanding on Garp and Koby relationship and on Helmeppo as well. But tbh I haven't taken IGN reviews seriously for a long time anymore

    While I'm dismayed that the entire Battle for the Baratie was very much discarded for the Live Action, Garp pursuing Luffy, Buggy still being around, and Zeff and Garp's dinner talk, makes up for it.

    IGN doesn't know what they're talking about. Oda has a lot of creative control over the project and has said a few times that it'll be more like what he wanted the beginning of the anime to be like

    Remember that people in the four blues aren't really that tapped in to the grand line politics. A lot of them barely know the warlords' names, let alone their faces.
