I went from the Avid BB7'S to those Zoom Xtech hb100 calipers and I must say the zoom's feel much smoother and has better modulation then the bb7's. I decided to keep the zooms on my Goped GSR 60 gas scooter. I did have to remove some air bubbles from the zoom calipers,I bought 4 calipers(for another scooter) and 3 of them had air bubbles,so I decided to just add new oil and removed all air bubbles.

After a months of usage i can say they are really good if you don't heat them so much, like in city or contry roads. Problem is when you ride them with 160mm discs in downhill, they will start to heat too much, after pistons won't return to their position, brakes are getting worse and can't pull the lever, until they cool down. If i used them more and more in heat i think they will start to leak.

The problem with hybrid disks is the limited room for expansion of the oil, so If you manage to overheat them they can leak and stop to work, usually when going downhill - one reason I'll stay with mechanical dual piston breaks until I can afford fully hydraulic for my gravel bike...

I use Jagwire compression less housing and it still moves a lot. also another disadvantage of mechanical brakes is it needs longer hose, especially on a full suspension bike, and is very sensitive to angles the hose is at.

I have been using these calipers on my Triban 120 GRVL bike for 4 months and I am pretty satisfied with them. Since the installation, I haven't had to even adjust them, everything works perfectly and smoothly. These are million times better than the original Promax mechanical calipers! I pretty much recommend them!

How did you set them up as mine have no bite and performance is terrible? I am thinking it’s a set up issue as others say they work well but I can’t find that sweet spot.

@@atthesummitMTBskills you may try to adjust the screw so the pads would push closer to each other leaving a thin space for the rotor. Also, make sure the rotors are grease free.

@@atthesummitMTBskills I had exactly the same problem. I think the solution is the small adjustement bolt which needs an 2mm allen key. Screw it in at least 2/3 of its way. Then you can back off the actuator lever to dial in the travel of your brake lever. Otherwise the actuator might hit its limit before the pads can grab the rotor. I adjusted mine this way just today and the difference is night and day!

Hey, I have the exact same bike and after seeing some positive reviews of these calipers with grvl120 on instagram I’ve decided to try with the rear brake first. The installation was pretty easy but the rotor was touching the pads even with the open position. I tried some regulation, eventually I gave it to bike shop to set it up for me. But I’m not happy with the result, it brakes way worse than the promax in the front. I am now wondering if it’s the quality control issue and if I should try with another one. What do you guys think?

@@pawehalicki2049 I have been receiving similar messages on my Insta site, namely that people are not satisfied with the braking performance. For me, it is the opposite. Am I just lucky? Probably. But anyway, I would try a new rotor and a set of metallic XT pads, and I guess it will increase the performance a lot!

Nice video. I just received mine, however, I find braking to be very stiff. I discovered it is due to the actual levers of the calipers that are being pulled by the brake cables being very stiff. Is there any way to sort of 'loosen' this lever without compromising braking power?

I was looking at the other type of hybrids, the ZRace one that they also sell in bundle with the Sensah gravel groupset, but read some reviews that its only one sided action. What is even the point of making it partly hydraulic, if it doesn't even actuate both sides?

After installing these brakes I noticed a very nice improvement in brake feel, power and smoothness. I had to use the mounts that were on the bike because Billy Wong or whomever the crazy Chinese guy who built my ebike probably put red loctite on the mounts for some damn reason and I couldn't get them off. However even with the standard mounts that came with my bike they work perfectly and were not an issue. The beauty of these brakes compared to my mechanicals is that the rear brake is now easy adjustable. WIth the mechanicals the hub motor is slightly larger than the disc so in order to adjust the pad you had to take the whole damn caliper off and just guess. Too much, take the caliper off again and adjust, same thing with too little. A real pain in the ass. Now I can just turn out a few turns on either the caliper end or the bar end as the pads wear down. As far as the pads they give you they are "ok" but some new decent pads would probably increase the braking even more. Also because they are grabbing the disc from both sides you are not warping the disc to brake and they are QUIET. I mean like no squeeking, screeching, etc. Every time you would adjust the mechanicals, even a millimeter or two, they would screech for two weeks while the pads adapted to their new position. I pretty much only use the bike for commuting and running errands so as soon as the stock pads are done, I'll pick up some nice ones.
