there's a BT timecode adapter which you unforrunately have to purchase separately

It’s good to see that the XLR/TRS inputs now have connection locks on them so that they don’t pull away from the unit unexpectedly! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻

In my opinion, Zoom missed the mark on 2 points with these new H series recorders: they did not go 192khz and, on the H4 and H6 they use micro-SD card slots instead of full-sized SD card slots. On the H1 I can understand it because of its size, but there really isn't a good excuse not to utilize full size SD cards on the H4 and H6.

dang really only micro SD on new H6?? Also see no more 'easy knobs' for input control? I do see the purple one on right so guessing that's it. Still looks cool but wanna try it out first, I have a few h6s

When can we see a reresh for the Zoom F4 and Zoom F6?

Yes, I'll be buying as soon as pre-orders are live... the new look is growing on me, a bit...

The new H6 looks cheap as hell. Not sure why they decided to keep the same form factor, as there are no input level knobs. Still glad to have my trusty old H6, which has never let me down. We'll see about these new ones.

Any mention of the most important issue!! The preamps, 32bit float is all so fine for clipping, but if it's no improvement on the previous H series, it's a missed opportunity.

I am no expert, but what's wrong with the preamps? Been using the h4n pro for years.

Do you know if there will be a Zoom H5 Essential or H2N Essential?

The only differences, essentially, between the H4n and H5 were removable mic capsules, better pre-amps. Both had 2 XLR, Line in and XY-mics. The H4Essential looks like the “H5 essential” may not be necessary. If you need more than the H4, the push is up-market to the H6 essential. Or even F3/F6. I sold my H5 a couple years ago for the F3.

Yes, but some people, like myself, wanted a removable mic capsule so we could mount the H5 on a camera rig for it's XLR inputs and slimmer physical profile than the H4N and the H6 and then have the option to use the mic capsule if we needed to. I already have an F3, but I always wished it had a mic capsule for 4 channels of audio when I film live musical events.@@mikeblack_pw

Does the 3.5mm port allow for 32bit recording as well?

32-bit (floating point) recording would be available via the 1/8" / 3.5 mm TRS Female Balanced/Unbalanced Line/Mic Input. >Mark

For me, I still would love to hold on to my old design of the Zoom H6 which looks great but if I must explore the 32 bit float features, i will settle for Tascam Portacapture 8X. The look kills it all 😅

You are absolutely right!!! I was waiting for H6 update to have 32bit....but please...It looks like a 10 dollars chinese toy...I dont want my clients face wondering what it can be... The old H6 is great and pro appearance.

The specs are a hit but the design and functionality is a miss looks like I will only be getting the h1 essential, its such a shame they never included faders on the h6with iso recording.

No, the Zoom recorders do not have a touchscreen.

Can any one say how does it feel the plastic body?, good or bad quality plastic?, in the videos look very very plastique

Great, but by the look of them they look a bit cheap plastier.

Looks cheaper? To me it looks like it no longer is housed in that horrible rubberized coating which gets sticky over time. I'll take that any day of the weak even if it feels cheaper.

True, the original gray rubberized model was so terrible I ended up destroying it when trying to remove the sticky coating. Due to complaints, Zoom replaced it, years ago, with an All Black edition that has a slightly texturized black plastic casing instead. It looks better than the grey one and definitely looks better than the new H6essential -horrible design and color scheme in my opinion.

They evidently did away with the h5. No h5 32 bit. I had the impression the h5 was a popular version over the h4 pro. I noticed the supply of h6s are being sold at a huge discount. They're giving them away.

It does seem the h5 has been discontinued. I too noticed the price drop on the All Black H6, it is a great deal for what is still an excellent field recorder/audio interface. Of course, 32bit float and USB-C is the way forward, however, I feel Zoom fell short with the new models by not offering a 192kHz or 384kHz max sample rate, and an attractive, professional looking design. I wonder if the 'essential' series naming convention indicates a forthcoming 'professional' series with better specs, design and software/GUI. It doesn't make sense for Zoom not to match or surpass the Tascam Portacapture X8 in these areas, as it is certainly a direct competitor to the H6.
