For all the people that cannot make it work as a surface controller install the old driver "E_R16_R24_driver_win64_v1.3.0" and give it a shot. It worked for me on both Cubase 10.5 and Studio One 4. (I run win 7 64bits)

So I recently got my R16 working with both Cubase LE6 and Cubase LE9.5. I keep 6 because it can run 32bit plugins. As someone else commented the name changes to Studio in 9.5. I have the Zoom, which I put in Interface mode, and my Soundblaster Live 5.1 external which I use as the PC soundcard. I pipe the output of the SB into the Zoom (typically channels 3 and 4) and I pipe output of my Spirit Soundcraft into channels 1 + 2 and I use 6+7 for external input like a phone/MP3 player (I use this R16 in Soundcard and stand-alone modes). In standalone I can bounce / swap tracks and in Cubase I realize you can connect each audio track to Zoom 1 say (if you like) or simply record, then copy paste (like swap/bounce). Now - I am using the "latest" driver which claims to be E_R16_R24_driver_win64_v2.0.0_0 for windows 10 and crucially I updated the firmware to 1.23_E. Before that the stock firmware didnt want to know in USB mode, was ok in standalone. This video explained how to use the Mackie. I found the original duplicate of the CD - all I found was some projects that have 8 mono, 4 x 2 stereo etc. But the key thing was how to get the Mackie working - nice. Now I can use it like a control surface in Windows 10 and Cubase LE 9.5/LE6 for 64bit and 32bit VSTs respectively.

With great anticipation I disconnected the Lexicon 2x4 USB recording interface and hooked up my 16 following the step by steps. I select the Mackie Controller, but R16 never appears as a midi in/out selection. So it don't work with my pc. But if it did this is a great video to learn from.

@bjornsj89 be sure the r-16 is connected to your computer before launching cubase. you may have to re-start cubse a couple of times but eventually the software will recognize the r-16 and offer it up as an option.

No you can do it to the SD card and import them to any DAW.

When I try to create a new project from Cubase LE 5, it doesn't show my Zoom R-24 like in 0:42... my device doesn't show... But otherwise, this is such a GREAT tutorial. Love it. But if someone would tell me why my device isn't showing up on the "create a new project" screen, that would be really great.

Can it plug into an android phone with bandlab?

I just bought the R24 and it appears to be controlling the Cubase software. I can also hear the mic I have plugged in through the phones but I get get a level to register on the software. Only the R24 shows a level. Thanks, Help would be awesome!

I guess I am missing something here. I also cannot select r-16 as Mackie Control. It seems everyone else has somehow found a solution, although I don't see it anywhere in the context of the comments. drutgat2 press insert effect which will open the effects menu( presets) and then browse through the effects using the arrow pad and led screen

I really like the R16 and I have been using it for different projects. However, I'd love to see a tutorial connecting the R16 with DP8. For some reason it is not as intuitive to find the Mackie settings in DP> Has anyone done this configuration with success? Thank you!

@bjornsj89 not sure why he mentioned MIDI. The R series do not have MIDI capabilities. You can get a USB to MIDI adapter however if you're using this with a PC. If you're not using it with a PC or separate MIDI sequencer, you're out of luck.

MIDI signals can be transmitted over USB which is how the R16 does it. I don't think he used any kind of adapter.

I can't select r16 under macki control, what am i doing wrong?

i've tried this feature by pressing tab 9-16 (on the R16, after assigning tab 1-8 to track 1-8) , track9 will start from the position of track1 if you move the fader1, so if you're in track9 (tab 9-16) and switch back to track1 (tab 1-8) and move the fader1 it will jump again from track9 position, making it not usable in track9-16. in conclusion only 8 faders can be useful.

Hi apart from the low resolution I was able to get this to work. I am using Zoom R16. I updated to latest Windows 10 drivers. I updated firmware to 1.23. And then I was able to setup the remote control. Used to use it back in Windows XP with Cubase LE4. Where are you stuck. Maybe I can help? For me the key was to make my SoundBlaster the main soundcard so that Windows / Steinberg is free to choose the Zoom as an audio device. If you are also using the Zoom as audio device I _think_ you are toast. Windows has some odd architecture - one sound card at a time.

where can i get the templates????

Where are these templates? Cannot seem to get audio input using Cubase LE. I have installed the drivers and sounds plays out through the Zoom R24

+Jason Grant the templates are on the CD "pdf manual and drivers" that is included on the Zoom R24, they are on the folder "CubaseLE_template_WIN", then you can copy those files to your PC on the same place where the templates are, it's easy to find them from the Start Menu: Steinberg/Folder/Project Templates

Thanks a lot. I actually spent a lot of time looking for it and finally found it late the other night. I still wasn't able to get it all the way working with Cubase LE, but eventually I was able to get most things working with GarageBand. The only issue with GarageBand is that it doesn't support Mackie Control Surfaces. I'm sure I'll have to jump up to Logic Pro X soon enough. Thanks again for your help.

+Carlos Achata Trying to get the mixer to sync, so when i go to cubase i have a nice volume mix, but when i move a slider on for ex. channel one, cubase jumps, how can i prevent that or sync the r-16 better so i don't lose my mixed volume in cubase ? for ex. going back to re-mix / edit or add a new track

HOW TO DO YOU RESET ZOOM R16 TO FACTORY

Computer says device not recognized. However, it appears in Control Panel/Sound. Following the R16 AI guide, I try to select R16 as Mackie Control, but R16 doesn't appear in the menu. However, the device appears in the "Device/Vst audio system" and I can select it. As it is, the R16 is unusable as AI. What's happening? Anybody can help? this thing is really freaking me out.

Not as good as the Zoom HD16 it has more controls but can't use it as a audio interface but as a controller way more control

I have a problem whit the sample rate on the zoom r16. Cubase LE7 operates in 44.1 khz, but the zoom it automaticly comes in 96khz. That mens that the audio plays to fast. How do i change the sample rate in zoom?? sombody knows??

okay! we had the exact same problem all you have to do is right click on the audio mixer at the bottom right click record devices scroll down till you see the zoom r16 then right click on it go to properties go to the advanced tab then switch that to 44.1

what's actually exact the I/O button. Please I need to know because I want to do something with a controller, but I cannot get it. Somebody told to do by doing something by that button but i dont know which is, please help, it's appreciated :)
