This video takes the viewer on a journey through space to one of Webb’s first observations in 2022, the Wolf-Rayet star WR 124, seen here in unprecedented detail.
Despite being the scene of an impending stellar ‘death’, astronomers also look to Wolf-Rayet stars for insights into new beginnings. Cosmic dust is forming in the turbulent nebulas surrounding these stars, dust that is composed of the heavy-element building blocks of the modern Universe, including life on Earth.

Is it possible to change the orientation of JWST so that the spikes from the aperture and secondary mirror obscure different parts of the image and the two images then stacked with the spikes removed?

A solid No, you will literary have to change configuration of the primary mirrors to do that.

@@Comet-2011-W3-Lovejoy I can't see why, if you were to tilt the telescope so the spikes fell onto a part of the sky already photographed, then stack the two images and remove the spikes from the image it should be possible. It would of course be wasteful to do it for every image but if something interesting is "under" the spikes it may be worthwhile. Why do you think you would need to change the configuratin of the mirrors?
