Zoom F3 Field Recorder for Weddings
In this video we give a general overview along with some pros and cons of the Zoom F3 Field Recorder.
We think this is perfect for a wedding videographer. The only way to power this device is through double A (AA) batteries. You can also connect it with USB-C. For longer recordings (8+hours) you may need to plug it in.
This doesn't have the ability to do timecode internally, so you will need to connect an external device which means you will have to use one of the audio channels.
This device comes with with 2 XLR inputs: line level and mic level/mic level with phantom power. The Zoom F3 also comes with a bluetooth adapter, which can be useful.

For field recording I LOVE my F3. Best purchase I made in a long time. Excellent bit of kit.
Another time code solution with Zoom F3 is to use the Bluetooth adapter. You can use Atomos UltraSync BLUE to wirelessly time code sync.

I second this, although I wish it wouldn’t be limited to just the Atomos Ultrasync Blue tc box and it’d connect to the Deity tc1 box, but at least there’s the option.

So just to get this straight… if you are only using one mic you can sync w the tentacle on the other xlr port to have timecode , no?

I love my F3 even though it has a convoluted menu/button mess...come on Zoom clean this thing up.
Hi. How would it compare to the zoom M4 ? Same preamps, but the build quality doesn't look awesome on the M4 !! Still, I fear the lack of audio recording on the fly... (I have the first version of the H4) Thx for helping !
Plz clairify for me as to how u use the Zoom F3--since you utilize Tentacle Sync E Timecode devices & synch up your cameras with timecode. Do u use a slate like Filmsticks in addition to the Tentacle Synch devices? 😎😎

my question as well
I was using this for my recording at 192Khz sampling rate and it looks like it keep turning off after sometime while it was recording, i need to press power button to turn on again, weird. did you ever come across this issue ?
How are you using this with timecode?
You are wrong about power solutions. Simply use a power bank.
I don't agree at all your comment on getting a large card to capture different event .not good .bad advise.
