The Zman CrawZ is a great finesse bait. I love this bait and I am excited to share this Zman TRD Crawz with you! The Zman Finesse Bulletz is the perfect terminal set up to go with the Zman Crawz baits. These little finesse baits have the same durable plastic that we know and love with the Zman products so it will allow this bait to float up off the bottom. It is going to be a sneaky little finesse bait that will work great for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. I am sure it has its time and place for spotted bass, as well!

Who is SmallmouthCrush?
Travis Manson was born and raised where the giant Smallmouth Bass of the north live...WISCONSIN. He started fishing from the bank at a young age and spent most of his childhood with a rod in his hand. Travis is primarily a self-taught angler that is always learning and experiencing this amazing sport of fishing. He started out fishing for walleyes and fishing in local walleye tournaments, but then in his mid 20's, he caught the BASS BUG and has been hooked every since. He competed at the highest level in bass fishing on the Bassmaster Elite Series for a number of years. He is a fishing guide offering trips on the Chesapeake Bay for largemouth bass(year round), guided trips for smallmouth back in Wisconsin (during select times) and trophy smallmouth bass guided trips in Upstate New York (May-November) His KZread Channel is named after his passion for the smallmouth bass and will be used as a platform for "how-to" videos, on the water instruction, crazy on and off the water topics and vlogs on the day in the life of a fishing addict!

Who here has used the Zman TRD CrawZ?

I tried them briefly on one trip last year when they first came out, and haven't gone back to them. I didn't really give them enough time in the water, and think I'll give them another shot this year. I tend to default to the TRD when I'm looking for a finesse bottom bait, because that's a known confidence bait for me.

SmallmouthCrush I wanted to. But don’t know how they compare to the Strike King Rage Craw. So I stuck to the rage craw instead.

@@Unspoke they're completely different from Rage Craws in size and purpose. I could understand how someone could think they were comparable if you haven't seen them. They're tiny compared to a Rage Craw. I was surprised how small they are. They also don't have appendages designed to move a lot of water like a Rage Craw. I use a Rage Craw as a full-size jig trailer in dirty water or for fish that are actively feeding. The Z-man TRD Crawz are something I'd use in clear water when the bite is slow.

Question. I normally only have one rod with me while fishing. It takes me over 5 minutes on average to retie new lure between casts on changing. So I generally just use one or two lures per hour of fishing if i'm not getting bit off. How long should I fish without a strike before re-tying or moving to the next spot?

The TRD is deadly. It has a lot of buoyancy which floats it off the bottom. Travis is right about keeping the baits in original packaging. The material is tough but it melts on super hot sunny days. Should be noted to not leave these on your boat carpet. I had to replace an entire section on my boat because a couple TRDs melted.

Strike King and Zman elaztech baits aren't as durable or as buoyant as the cyberflex baits made in the early 2000's. I bought some SK and Zman stickbaits just to compare them to the cyberflex baits. I wacky rigged both brands and each came off the hook on the very first cast. Cyberflex baits weren't that popular. They were only on the market for 4-5 years. From 2005-06 I went to every tackle store and wally world in my area and bought hundreds of packages of Terminator and Strike King cyberflex baits. They were sellings them for 25¢- $1.00 per pack. Those baits are so durable I've only used about 10 packs in the last 15 years.
