I'm a daily wire fan, but Peterson speaks with such metaphorical language (which I know is some people's preferred way of communicating/learning), that it's ultra annoying to try to understand what he's saying, instead of someone who just gets to the point, like Destiny. Shapiro and Destiny would be way better to watch. Btw, having William Lane Craig speak with Destiny would be quite fun, as Craig is excellent with finer distinctions in logic.

@@Volmire1Craig is probably the most talented Christian apologist but he literally uses dialogue trees like no other. His arguments-particularly the kalam cosmological argument-are all quite easy to debunk if you’re familiar with them. From his equivocation of “begins to exist ex nihilo” with “begins to exist as in a reorganization of existing parts,” to the assumption that the universe began to exist, that argument is full of problems. Not to mention it doesn’t even conclude with Gods existence. In a less formal debate I don’t think he’d fair very well.

zizek actually started to touch on the most important part of a game, as totalbiscuit would always say the failure state is the most important mechnic, if youre not punished for failing enough then victory essentially becomes a given, much the same happens in life, no one wants to walk a flat path laid out in front of them chartered by someone else, even if it will 100% lead to 'success' if theres no chance of failure no struggles no strife, no obstacles to overcome then the primal brain gets demotivated imo. Thats one of the biggest problems of modern society to me, some areas the struggle is so hard the failure states are constant and other areas are so simple theres no motivation to do them. Like where am i getting my primal brain juice if i never need to use any of my evolutionary adaptations, thats why working in a boring office job is so life draining or retail, there really is no challenge to those jobs and its just tedium.

But if they actually took the time to get familiar with his actual _theoretical_ work (Sublime Object of Ideology, Tarrying With the Negative, The Ticklish Subject, The Parallax View, and Less Than Nothing), they would discover that he is literally intersecting the three most substantial projects in European academia today: Lacanian psychoanalysis, Marxian political economy, and Hegelian metaphysics. I absolutely despise this sentiment that because he's so good faith towards the kinds of normie stupidity the general public engages him with, that therefore that's _all_ he is. It's such a ridiculous waste of what he is actually capable of discussing. The problem is that not many _want_ to ask him those harder questions that require a bit of reading.

I know very little about Destiny but I have noticed that when he enters debates with people who are actual intellectuals or experts in their field he struggles. I studied Zizek at university and watched folks like Richard Woolf the economist and Marxist. When these guys have a long career and knowledge of history Destiny is no match. Their is a fashion these days of psudo -intellectualism where logical fallacies are masked as serious debate. This is why we have a Jordan Peterson who talks about a lot of subjects he has no idea about and avoids debates with people like Richard Woolf on subjects such as capitalism and Marxism. I think the adjective “Smart” is now a meme and Debate is now called “Gotcha”

Zizek inpires me to force myself to learn and grow. This is a guy who refuses to sit down idly and accept a surface-level understanding of existence. He delves as deep as he possibly can into everything that he absorbs, and gives all of his lectures/speeches/debates his 10000% effort. Imagine where we might be if we each applied Zizek's "pen and paper to a debate" approach to this game of life that we're all forced play. Where does this energy and tenacity come from and how can I harness some of it?

You can really see how destiny’s approach is more surface level - not in a bad way, but he sticks with more obvious and grounded interpretation of the question. Zizek has his entire philosophical perspective about the economy of symbols and language and his lacanian and marxist foundations to filter the question through, so he digs a bit more into the meta of the question. Neither approach is bad but its interesting to see the different places they get you.
