- Ziprasidone has an antipsychotic effect, apparently caused by dopamine and serotonin receptor-blocking in CNS.
- It is available as 20 mg, 40 mg, 60 mg and 80 mg capsules, an as 20 mg/ml Injection.
- Ziprasidone is used in the management of schizophrenia, and in the treatment of acute agitation in schizophrenic patients, injection only can be used in this case.
- The usual oral dose of Ziprasidone for adults is 20 to 80 mg twice a day. And the usual intramuscular dose is 10 to 20 mg/day, up to a maximum dose of 40 mg/day.
