I've got a few zippos. Don't really use them much but this is the reason I buy them when I see an interesting shell. A company just standing by their product for so long. Rare these days. Nice video.
Regarding that steel Zippo... Having restored a great many vintage Zippos myself, I can clearly see what they did. The hinge barrels themselves were still in decent shape. If you take a magnifying glass to the hinge you will see that they've inserted a roll pin, which expands slightly and helps take up some of the slop of the hinge after they've tightened it up a bit as well. The fact that the hinge is still a tiny bit loose despite the roll pin tells me that the hinge barrels themselves were just on the cusp of being replaced (I've stared at enough beat up old hinges to recognize one that's on the last 1/4 of its life), but they probably made the decision to not replace the hinge based on several factors including trying to keep the lighter original (the current generation replacement hinges don't really look right on those older pre-1955 hinged lighters) and also to keep their labor cost lower (replacing a worn out hinge pin is a lot less effort than grinding out the old hinge and spot welding in a new one).

I concur, kinda why I sent in a different material Zippo, wanted to see how they handled it. They did a great job! Thanks for the information!
The no click problem is very easily fixed at home, the problem doesn't come from the insert but if comes from the lid. The little metal flap where the cam rests should be perpendicular, you can push it with a pen or a screwdriver, very easy! Nice lighters and great job from zippo!

Correct. The no click issue is because the "cam channel" is too narrow. Almost trivial to resolve by just "stretching" flap away from the hinge side a little at a Time. Too far and the lid won't close easily, but that's why small adjustments and easily fixed even if you go a bit too far.

I just got one in today that didn't have the zippo click. Bummer, then ran across your comment. Easy fix. Thanks.
Great video. The Zippo repair clinic really does do decent work fixing lighters. I've had to send in a few myself and they came back fairly quick and fixed really well.
Bought a used one that was in pretty rough shape, they repaired the hinge and replaced the insert...took about 2 weeks. If you are collecting them to sit on a shelf, i don't see that you need their service much. Love Zippo lighters but it's tough to justify the cost for many of them especially the growing number with subpar paint/sticker design finishes.
The no ping issue is very easy to fix. It takes 30 seconds and you can do it yourself. As long as the spring in the insert is good, all you have to do is bend the tab in the lid out with a pair of pliers. The reason they don't ping is because the tab bends in too far and prevents the cam from striking the lid.
thanks for including other countries :))
That half and half lighter is super cool and very unique. I have a similar lighter that I’m about to send in hopefully mine will look just like that

9:50 - Well at this point its not repair from their side, its restoration service. Repair is to change what is broken. Restoration is to restore original parts. I did not expect this, cool to see. Looks like person who works in Zippo Clinics like his job, imagine having a job to restore someones 70 year old lighter.
i sent in my 2013 zippo for repair, added my bosses 1956 he had. they both came back repaired.

I have the anti-wind version, but the flame is not going down into the pipe. Any idea what causes this? Thanks.
If my high polish brass needs replacing will they replace it with the same model or with whatever they like? Thanks
I don't see how they can offer a lifetime warranty to repair abuse and damage. Usually a lifetime warranty only covers manufacturing defects. And then there are lifetime warranty like brake pads that only apply to the original purchaser.
the chrome zippo with 2 lines in top and bottom corner i just sent in to zippo mines a 98 though
Personally in about 40 years I have never used the Zippo repair facility because of my policy if it is a collectable Zippo never use keep on in display cabinet only use basic mass produced models that are cheap look after them and they they will last about 5 to 6 years before the hinge breaks when that happens just throw it away and buy a new one

Yeah I only use a couple of zippos but I come across many many old zippos that need repairing, it does help the value depending on the zippo.
Do you know if a slim lighter would be covered might be a dumb question but I just want to make sure

Do they need the bill copy to be sent along?
@JRO_Lights

Nope! Just utilize their return form located on your specific country’s website.
What happens if you don’t have a internet to print out the form do they send you the forms in the mail if you ask them
@JRO_Lights

If someone doesn’t have a printer, I’m sure Zippo would accept a hand written form, but also one could go to a public library and print one out. (I’ve don’t that many times since I don’t have a printer.)
What causes my zippo to lose fluid, it evaluates. Mt name is Harold Adams
I sent the rep41 which was dented with both the shell and the inside when ZIPPO sent me a new one and they returned the old one, not fixing it.🙂

@@sammy4583 could be the impact the wheel has on the flint. Depending how often you use it the flint wheel does wear after time. If you send your zippo in, than they will replace the insert.
