You should watch the concert he gave on the other new (2010) and much bigger Pietro Corna organ in the same cathedral on the 29 Oct. Its uploaded on the YT channel of Festival Organistico Internazionale - Bergamo. Fabulous.

You should watch the full concert John and Tom gave in the Cathedral on the 29th Oct on the new (2010) Corna organ. Its on the Bergamo International Organ Festival website. Fabulous.

Hi Jonathan and Tom - Amazing sound from the 1842 Bossi and thanks so much. Hopefully you read these comments. I watched the your full concert on the new Corna organ via the stream from the festival which was fabulous but marred by major buffering problems which started in the second last part of the Mussorgsky and lasted right through to the end of the encores. Please please could you contact the organisers of the organ festival to upload a clean version from the master copy for the permanent record. Thanks

Mi perdoni, della Elevazione di Zipoli questa è la più brutta esecuzione che abbia mai ascoltato. L'esecutore ignora il momento della Messa cui è destinato il brano. Ha sbagliato registri e carattere.

Per prima cosa, Zipoli non ha lasciato indicazioni precise. La versione di Jonathan è bellissima. Seconda ulteriore considerazione è che, questa esecuzione è stata fatta con registri "rumorosi", altri dicono ripieno, perchè vuole mostrare la potenza dell'organo Felice Bossi. Mettiti delle buone cuffie Bose, poi ne riparliamo. Questo non è l'organo principale,INFATTI ha solo una tastiera. ma senti che suono. I campanelli mettono quel tocco in più. Bella registrazione ottima qualità suono e organo. Ottima la pedaliera, note gravi molto profonde ma dolci. Credo ci sia lo zampino di Pietro Corna dietro questa maestosità e pienezza di suoni. Un organaro coi controcoglioni! Terzo punto, l'esecuzione è un interpretazione personale di Mr. Scott e diversa dalle altre , ma non per questo meno bella, anzi. Qua non scade niente, non si butta via niente amico mio... Musica santa per le orecchie.

Great performance. It would be good to hear more Italian organ music by composers from the early 19th century such as Padre Davide da Bergamo and Giovanni Morandi, which unfortunately is an era of organ music that's still widely unknown.

@@capitanoachab Yes, I see what you mean. Although this performance is very beautiful, I did find it a little cliche that Scott would choose this piece when playing on an Italian organ. Plus, this does remind me that the world unfortunately still knows F... all about Italian organ music.

You're right! Even the organists who want to play it do not know that music. An example is this horrendous execution of Zipoli's "Elevazione" in which he completely mistaken registers and character.

@@salviamolachiesadiverdiaro174 Did Domenico Zipoli leave detailed instructions on registrations and character for this and other pieces? Do we have a historical record of how it sounded when he played it in his time? The problem with your argument is common to all those say that it is not authentic - in the end its your personal opinion and musical taste and fashion and interpretation change with time. We see it in all music traditions.

@@epincion The Elevation is the most delicate, important and holy moment of the Mass. Music must create meditation and prayer. In Italy the register of the "Voce umana" combined with the "Principale" of 8.

Scott è indubbiamente un ottimo organista, abilissimo nelle trascrizioni e sicuramente originale, ma in questo meraviglioso brano di Zipoli secondo il mio modesto parere sbaglia la registrazione: il ripieno non ci sta, molto meglio usare registrazioni più morbide e pastose, magari impiegando qualche registro battente, come la voce umana, come mirabilmente fa qualche organista italiano specialista di musica antica (cito Lorenzo Ghielmi, .. ma ce ne sono altri, il brano è molto famoso). Questa interpretazione non mi piace.

Bene...lo preferirei con una registrazione più delicata...( es.principale o principale voce umana)

registrazione troppo rumorosa e poco acconcia al brano suddetto che per sua natura è da suonarsi nel momento più delicato e santo della celebrazione eucaristica e tale da favorire intimo raccoglimento e preghiera, Non può essere trattato, il brano, come valido per un qualsiasi intermezzo e momento. L'esecuzione scade per la sua rumorosa registrazione.

An elevazione played with the plenum. How dare you. Are you out of your mind. An elevazione should be played with soft flute, strings or Voix Celeste stops. NEVER with a plenum registration.
