This guys arms are as strong as someone 4 weight classes up.... his wieght is allllllllll upper body and he's found a way to use.... awesome man........ this is why I love our sport... heart and determination go a long way in this sport

I think that's the problem here. He's able to bulk up massively and compete against guys with noodle arms. If his competitors bulked up like that, they would move up in classes. A lot of offensive wrestling moves are centered around the legs and now those moves are not available to his competitors. Still hard to believe it's so difficult to beat him.

@@MotoAtheist True but the disadvantages are there too. That's the beauty of the sport. It's one person against another with whatever natural tools they bring to the table. Obviously that person has advantages in one way and disadvantages in another. He decides to step on the mat with whoever will take the challenge, and as does the other. It's simple yet beautiful concept.

I understand what you are saying but this person embodies the spirit of this sport and even though I would have had mixed emotions when I wrestled, I know I would have had the utmost respect for that person and would have formed myself to treat the situation accordingly. I assume you were/are a wrestler so I appreciate your opinion on this as well

Legs are stronger than arms and his opponents have then. Stfu if you know nothing about wrestling he’s at a way heavier disadvantage I don’t wanna hear your shit. Get a life 🤡

It is all about adaption. In Highschool, one of the hardest person I wrestled was blind. I was forced to wrestle tied up with him and could not separate to shoot. He had got so good at that and I had never had to wrestle like that, made him very difficult to wrestle. I am sure his teammates have learned how to wrestle him, but for someone that doesn't on a normal basis, it may make it very difficult.

That is an interesting matchup. I am a BJJ blue belt, and I wondered what it would be like to wrestle without legs, as a lot of techniques require leg work in the martial art. Zion is a peculiar case because his weight is focused on the upper section, but that is to compensate the lack of legs. Because of that, the takedown techniques have to be adapted for a pure arms one, plus a regular opponent has to deal with an unique body shape, and the strength Zion has in his arms must be no joke. It is a beautiful statement on how we humans can adapt. Not the ideal conditions but Zion still proves it is possible to be a tough opponent

I shouldn't have laughed-

Like Anthony Robles, when Robles started wrestling he lost every single match. Once he developed the skill set no one could beat him. His upper body was built like a 150 pounder and that missing leg was his secret weapon. His oponents were forced to attack only one leg or one side because the other one was missing. Anthony got so good at defending that leg that ultimately led him to a National title. He also became a master of the tilt.

The kid learned in the second round not to let Zion grab him otherwise it would be over. But still, how do you beat Zion? The only way I can think of is body slamming him on his back but even then His arm strength would let him get out of that easily. I used to be in that weight class and it was always impossible to beat higher weight classes because they just had more muscle than I did.

but nobody else practices to wrestle a man with no legs. He has super advantage. He knows his pros and cons, nobody knows his pros or cons unless they wrestled him before or studied him extensively, even still he has the upper hand because he practices this his entire life. Zion did only way around 80-90 pounds so he was just in the lost weight class which was 106

Dude doesn't have legs to use for pins or maneuvers. I think all things considered the cons balance out the pros. He's literally walking on his hands the entire time, talk about endurance. He adapted to his circumstances and found a way to win.

I'm not sure if it's fair or not, one thing is for certain is that it's incredibly unbalanced. I don't even know wrestling all that well enough to know how you're supposed to win. But if you're supposed to pin the other guy on his back or something.. I can see how it must be incredibly awkward to pin Zion without using some kind of cheap non-wrestling technique to take advantage of the unique situation and lack of leverage Zion has. I guess if I were to try myself, knowing nothing about wrestling, but if my life depended on winning.. I would hurl myself at him and use speed and momentum to topple him over, and then I would use my whole body to pin him down. No idea if that would actually work, but it seems it would be a better try than the awkward crouching and passive grappling this guy is doing. Zion is so impressive though that's for sure, mad respect to him.

Not wrestling when you can use wrestling techniques. Also, it is impossible to practice techniques against someone with no legs, so the matches should not count as an actual loss.
