For real! See other comments: Push the red button in and the legs fold down... Then each side folds into each other. Very easy!
If I get the Queen size version, can I separate them? If so, am I going to be able to use twin size mattress on each??

Yes they can be separated! And I believe they may fit a twin size... it will could be off by 8 inches... not sure exactly and we have not tried!
How are they held together in the middle?

can you fold the center legs up when the frame is open? or are they rigged?

No they don't fold up due to the angled support piece/bracket attached to them!
What are the sizes for the screws I need to replace mine and can’t find anywhere to buy them
