Yes! It’s NOT one dimensional at all and it’s long lasting! What was this guy smoking? Here’s my take: It starts off with a patchouli and woodsy vibe and goes beautifully into a lovely rose and flowers scent in middle. And lastly it becomes a calming vanilla vibe. It’s a timeless scent IMO and the ingredients seem really high quality. It’s Davidoff after all and their Cool Water is still a BEAST! PS Zino has even more too it but I kept it short and simple. I’ll just add, it smells soooooo natural. Like REAL ingredients of dirt, flowers and roses!

I haven't smelled Zino since the late 1980's when I was in high school. I have been trying to collect all of my favorite 1980's fragrances and just ordered a bottle of Davidoff Zino last week and I just received it today! I tried it on some paper to see if it smelled how I remembered it so many years ago. Then I put some on my wrist first before putting it on my neck and waited for the dry down. It smells fantastic on my skin moreso than on a piece of paper, which is how I smelled it first. My wife loved the way this one smelled on my skin! I think this one works with my body chemistry. Definitely going to get a few more bottles of this one! So sorry this one didn't work out for you! I enjoyed your opinion! Very funny! I just knew this was going to be interesting when I saw that pre-video picture of you tossing it into the trash! Thanks for reviewing this one and giving your honest opinion! I bought One Man Show because of you a month ago and now I need another bottle! (I put a serious dent in that bottle!).

I can't believe it ! This is the first time I have to disagree with you XD ! I LOVE this scent so much and it lasts A LOT on me ! As regards as the breakdown I can perceive very well the 3 phases ! I think it has very smooth transitions but still very present and easy to recognize. Are you sure you got the real thing ? Because I hate A*men dna too... Btw I suggest you to try it during winter. I think this scent gives its best during cold months.

Interesting. I just got this yesterday, and it was my scent of the evening. Put it on out of the shower at 6:30 and I can still smell it at 6:30 this morning as a skin scent, and on my shirt even stronger. I really like this, and my wife really liked it. You are correct that it doesn’t change a lot in the dry down. I get some woods and vanilla, but overall, I like the patchouli. I’ll be wearing it a lot when the weather turns cooler. The aroma chemical responsible for that burnt sugar smell you hate is Ethyl maltol, and it’s indeed the famous aroma chemical found in Angel Men.

I like Zino and I am lucky to have an older Lancester Version, the current one is made by Coty. If you don't like the Coty Version its not worth trying to seek out a Lancester one. To me there are two stages to the scent. The good projecting opening that lasts for 45min or so and the drydown thats more or less a skin scent. The opening is why I wear the scent. It is dark and aromatic, somewhat tart. I get a lot of Lavender and Rosewood supported by a hint of geranium. The dark but clean patchouli is the background. I do agree the drydown is somewhat linear and boring.

Zino is a tobacco fragrance on me. It smells like a beautiful humidor in the drydown.

The hype on Zino was real back in the day when it first came out. It could only be found in high end stores. I received tons of compliments in yesteryear when I wore it!

I'm really interested to try this one. Zino has the most polarizing reviews out of all the fragrances that are on my radar to try and/or buy. Some love it. Some hate it. But nobody seems to be meh about it. It's either one or the other. The different ways that different people describe the scent of the fragrance is also really intriguing. To some It's an animalic patchouli bomb and to others it's gourmand sweet. And then some people say it is a nice blend of patchouli, rose, and sandalwood that reminded them of more high end fragrances. I really need to get my hands on a bottle of Zino asap!

In the 90's it was an authentic bomb, a beast mode fragrance, filling a room with only 3 sprays, but reformulation has killed this ex-gem. I tested the reformulation and I had to literally dig my nose in the paper strip to try to smell something, unbelievable, I was shocked. Desafortunately Zino is no longer what it was...

Your nose is a problem

I have an empty bottle from the 90’s, an all time fav scent of mine. I just ordered another, hope todays bottle smells the same. A magical scent for me, it seems to love my skin.

_Visiting your reviews well past when they were posted finds me liking your style and perspective for sure. Fragrance collectors and fans have to remember this 'patchouli gem' was a big seller back during the 'Miami Vice' era. (My how our tastes in men's colognes and EDP's have changed). Being discontinued in 2013, yet readily available and inexpensive makes revisiting a classic well worth it. Compared to some of the very best today(insert anything, Tom Ford), I can see why this classic isn't one of your likes. (Spot on about the one-dimensional sillage of this scent. Again, it's from a fragrance era where the dry downs, and longevity of EDTs and colognes were simply nill). Great review though. _*_Subscribed._*

Yup! I've heard the A*Men comparison a number of times and definitely see where you're coming from. I have a clone of Nasomatto's Pardon that has that same A*Men patchouli without anything attached to it and it gets incredibly boring after a while. Then again, I LOVE A*Men so I shouldn't complain. I hope very soon to have the opportunity to test it and give a verdict about its effect on my body chemistry. Perhaps your perspective comes from your personal experience, but it has happened to me for years that fragrances that other people smell very good, I can't stand them (Fahrenheit and Very Irresistible for example) I like youthful and timeless classic fragrances, which I identify and leave a warm impression on others. I hear so little negative said about Zino, I think I'm still shaking a little from the shock! 🤣 I remember when I initially tried Zino (on paper) I was taken back by how abrasive the opening seemed. However, when I finally tested on skin I had a whole different experience. I love the patchouli, rose and sandalwood. And I actually get an almost lemony smell in the opening. Which is weird, being there is absolutely no lemon or other citrusy notes, save the bergamot. It's become one of my go to, around the house, "comfort" scents and it's all due to that creamy drydown. Great review though. You're right... This difference of opinion is what makes it all interesting! 👍🏼

I absolutely love the opening, but I’m not sure I’m a fan of “dirty” patchouli. If I had to go with something similar to Zino, it would be Guerlain Heritage. It’s much smoother and has that wonderful Guerlainade accord.

On every skin Zinno opens and lives very different.f.e., on my skin it blooms like exotic dark colours tobacco- patchouli-rose masculine flower .for me it is fantastic classic masterpiece, but not for everyone! So dear canella , this fragrance does not fit for you (maybe at this moment of your life, or maybe forever:))

It's quite interesting you and I both don't care for the Angel Men DNA. In fact, it's one of the few fragrances I returned after spraying it a few times. With that said, I actually don't find that much in common between Zino and Angel Men series, and I find the scent of Zino quite likable. But you're right about its performance. It's surprisingly short-lived despite the rich note breakdown. It's been said it resembles Tom Ford's Beau de Jour which I'm waiting for a sample of. I'm pretty curious to find out if does because Beau de Jour is another hyped-up fragrance in the community.

Are there any (one dimensional is not a problem) other patchouli colognes (the dark smoky musky cocoa - ish kind/not the bitter sweet leafy hippy - ish kind) in the general price range of Zino that you could recommend? Patchouli dominant colognes have gotten pretty expensive. Sandalwood also. If you want a mish mash with patchouli or sandalwood in them somewhere you're fine but ironically when you look for a fairly straight forward version traditional version of either they get steep in price. Some powder scent is of course fine but not necessary either way. Thank you!

i'm genuinely surprised you didn't like this one! tom ford's beau de jour is kinda barbershoppy version of zino. give it a test if you can, that might be more up your alley. you should definitely check pasha by cartier - thats very similar to jazz/safari/tsar. they do a new parfum version of pasha which is a sandalwood heavy oriental.

Bummer on this for you. I knew where this was headed when the bottle was referenced as a tuxedo with a baseball cap 😂. But I actually like the Amen line (from the few I tried). The syrupy tar-like drydown is certainly not an everyday scent for me but it works in cooler environment and sometimes just one spray in the chest is all you need (under the shirt if needed). I haven’t tried Zino but it appears it’s mash of a masculine scent and Amen. Hopefully you have better luck in the future. As always, appreciate the honest review. Maybe test again in a cold NJ winter night. Be well sir.

I borrowed this clonge from a colleague and have been trying it this weekend. It's heavy, lots of spices I it was a bit fresher and a hint of sweetness. But I don't hate it. I think it's a bit similar to original polo green.

I'm tempted, £17 for a 100ml here in the UK. You were spot on with Grey Flannel, unfortunately i bought the XL bottle. OK definitely giving this a swerve. 3 blind buy catastrophes this month so far. Drakkar Noir 200ml, CK Contradiction and Proraso Vetiver 100ml. Fire starters all. Excellent review as is your way.

This fragrance reminds me on 80's and early 90's . I have it. Almost empty bottle. It doesn't contain much animalic notes. Reformulation wasn't bed. I saw it few years ago.

Good for you - and this is exactly why I watch fragrance stuff , as I possibly would think of getting Zino. But not now , I’d still try it but no blind buying .. One ☝️ I did buy blind buy (sort of- and I hadn’t smelled it since the late 80s) is Kouros - your review swung it for me , I was there on the edge anyway and you gave me a shove - so to speak . No regrets , love that bottle - unique , super strong 💪, gorgeous opening . Not an everyday one for me but an honourable place in my fast growing collection. Liked the Zino review despite it not getting a v good rating . Great channel , good luck to you 👍

I really like Zino , on first spray it reminded me of TF Beau de Jour though not as potent as it’s an edt compared to an edp . I got the lavender and patchouli plus some slight floral and wood notes . For the money it’s an excellent fragrance . Different scents for different gents I guess .

This is the definition of perfect hair.

I had high hopes for this fragrance and have been disappointed as well. It is not that I dislike the scent, but I can barely smell anything at all. I just put a spray on one arm and I can hardly tell which arm got the spray! The scent is so weak it is like spraying water on my arm. The very faint scent I do smell from the bottle smells good to me, certainly better than Cool Water which I dislike, but at least Cool Water has much better performance. I'm sorry that I bought this one, but I also fell for all the hype. I guess you have to get a vintage bottle to see what it was like originally.

Whoa, I haven't heard anyone else say this reminds them of the Angel Men DNA, but that's the first thing I thought of when I smelled this. In fact it reminds me of the first Angel for women. Perhaps it's one of those that really interacts with one's skin chemistry. I agree with you - Zino is not for me. Thanks for the review buddy 👍

lol, I was expecting you to say Amen. This is definitely its father. The patchouli note is nearly identical. I do love the fragrance itself, but you're right that the performance is shit. If something is a patchouli bomb, I expect people to be able to smell me from a block away after it has dried down for 36 hours. This performs like Eau Sauvage.

Man I am always so close to purchasing this. It’s in my wish list, but I just can’t commit. I read it’s similar to Guerlain Heritage which I love. I have both the edt and edp, the edt is my #1 and edp#2 in my list of top fragrances. I’m told this is similar, but not as refined. I have Milton Lloyd’s Spirit of Heaven and it smells almost 98% like A-men. I’m lucky, since it smells nice on me and it says around for 4 solid hours. I ended up buying a 2nd bottle, it’s so damned good and it’s only $8 for a 1.7, unbelievably good quality. Great vid, it’s off my wish list. I trust your nose and I’m not willing to take the gamble

Lol I wore it for the first time today because it was finally cold enough. It was cool. For the money I suppose you can't beat it. The bottle looks like some straight from the 80s and it is. If you're reading this, just buy it. Its great value for the money

Hi Kelan, you are absolutely right in regard to the current form, the vintage/OG is a totally different perfume! And Zino is the ONLY perfume where I agree that it is totally different from the vintage. The vintage lasts at least 12h+ and on cloths for days, like Kouros! As I told you, to me, the current version has a burned plastic / cable isolation smell in the opening, which makes me almost vomit 🤮 And I absolutely cannot understand that many say that the current and the vintage are the same and the vintage not worth hunting. It’s one of THE 80s powerhouse classics, but they ruined it. Here in Germany you can get 125 ml for 14,99 € and it‘s not even worth 9,99 €! 😲 I would pay 80 € if they would do the OG form! BR, Dan.

Those kryptomint and zest bottles are in such high demand from peeps. I personally love Zino but to each their own 👍🏼

Zino, to me smells like what a "pro" smelled like back in the 80s, example a Lawyer or a Doctor it has that old School vibe cause it is old school and mature cologne. Its a good classy, gentleman scent.

if you have not , have you tried guarlains masterpiece HERITIDGE edt ? its in my top tier of my frags and i have over 300

Thanks so much for watching and commenting Nate ! I just did not enjoy zino lol. As far as my Thierry Mugler scents I traded them all for a few vintage bottles of some of my favorite scents so I no longer have them

But Zino is a beautiful fragrance..the dry down is to die for..creamy warm lavender tobacco

totally legit if zino didn't make it to you .... maybe it was too hyped and you're expectations were too high ... to me this is a classic but floral scent (never expected a bomb or beast mode) where geranium is the more predominant note -- I usually wear it on winter nights and find it delicious in that setting --- as said, subjective is the name of this game

Lamar Williams original polo for men I love ! I have an older review on it I’m sure you could find a few videos back, I think I gave a 4 to it on presentation lol the ratings all come up on the end the overall rating was most important lol

I absolutely love this scent. But, the performance is truly awful. If they could make it last longer, I would wear it often. Luckily, I've never tried the A*men line. Another great review. 👍🏼

I actually like this one too and do not find it overly sweet at all. Quick tip though : try to find the vintage one with script writing on the box and bottle.Its the original before reformulation and performance is excellent . They can still be had on Ebay for decent prices .

Yeah I totally get it. Some frags are a struggle for me too. I have had the same issues with Van Cleef PH that you do .. smells like old lady to me . I have to keep trying lol.

Always wanted to try this some say it’s in the same place as Beau de hour by Tom Ford which is an utterly superb fragrance. Perhaps I won’t bother to buy this .....✌️

I like Zino, but performance is not very good. But I dont get any A men reference on it...🤔🤔. But noses are different and batches can be different

This one at first had this weird note, so I left it alone...fast forward a lot of people say it smells like YSL Rive Gauche. And it does, in the opening on my nose. But It’s got that weird creamy note to it. I like Zino but my bottle is floating around somewhere...so what does that tell you

I bought this after watching a lottt of good reviews online but I have to say, after smelling it, I totally agree with you. Yes it’s masculine but it just simply doesn’t smell good to me! I personally wouldn’t be wearing it and I’d advise others to not blind buy this one, have a smell first!

Zino is Davidoff's signature scent, now discontinued. Zino shares many of the same notes as Richwood by Xerjoff. Richwood is a $500 dollar cologne, whilst Zino is a $20 cologne. Zino is for the mature gentleman of distinction. One sniff of Davidoff's signature scent forces even the most frigid of women into instant ovulation. Mother Theresa just touched herself. Scents Of South Jersey should stick to rating unisex colognes.

I get a sharp note maybe patchouli and Rose

Zino and Beau de Jour get often lumped in the same group as "barbershop scents" which couldn't be further from the truth. They're woody aromatics, very heavy on the patchouli, spice bombs.

To me bdj is a lavender bomb. Smells like fabulouso floor cleaner. Not good at all. Neither of them have what guerlain heritage has and that's extreme quality and complexity. Heritage is the best in this genra imo. Lalique lion I actually like the most out of all of these

He’s right, it’s disgusting - the Vanilla ruins it.

Sell me that Zest then man. That Zino is old-school and just meant for casual nothing to do day. Even the bottle is early 80s like when my mom and dad met in college. 💞

I bought a 10ml sample after watching Ashton from Gents Scents and Dallas having quite positive opinions on Zino. Well, after trying it I thought what a trash LOL. Your taste seems to be more reliable to me....except Pure Havane - that one is a beauty :)

I really like Zino, but it does have a longevity issue. I keep an atomizer with me when I wear it. It agrees with my skin, but I can totally see this as a polarizing frag.

I know what you mean but the thing with this one is, I hardly wear it because like you I don't find it too appealing, but whenever I do I get compliments. This is one I wear when Im hanging out with the boys drinking scotch and playing poker. It's got that gangster vibe that really only appeals to men.
