Ferland Mendy improved when Alaba came wdym? He played almost every gme last season with Alaba and Militao as cb duo. This season however he is injury prone and barely plays but he might be fit for the city game

At Real Madrid things are different the Board, Perez, Jose angel Sanchez and the head scout Juni Calafat are the ones who sign players the coach only recommends players to the board but that's not a guarantee they will provide him with those players at real madrid you're expected already to manage the best players in the world ironically Zidane did have a say in some of Madrid signing during Mourinho Era when he worked at Madrid board for year or 2 before being a coach

He was a Benfica player, then send off loan to Frankfurt, returned to Benfica and was sold for 22m€ to Frankfurt. Madrid bought him for 60m and loaned him back to Frankfurt. Currently he plays for Fiorentina though.

Chris Watt being a good player doesn't mean you're Real Madrid level. Khedira, Ozil, Higuain, and Arbeloa were good players. They weren't Real Madrid level though, which is why we never won UCL when they were at Real, but won it immediately in 2014, when Ozil ans Higuain were sold, Khedira was injured all season, and Arbeloa was replaced by Carvajal.

@@Just-J2 Bruh I told all my friends long ago that we would never win UCL playing with Ozil, Higuian, Arbeloa, and Khedira, and the exact season that they were either sold, injured, or benched, we won the UCL. That's not a coincidence. I was right, and I was vindicated. Coz everyone ridiculed me when I said Ozil and those guys were not Madrid level, but I was proven right. Madrid has since gon on to win 5 UCLs. Ozil and Odegaard are not Madrid level.

Not to mention, ozil was still amazing for madrid during his time there, before the 10 role slowly died out and he was slowly phased out.

@@Just-J2 That's not why Ozil was phased out. Ozil cannot handle big, intense games like the ones Madrid face in the quarters, but especially semi finals and finals. I saw it time and time again. Against Bayern, against Dortmund, etc. Ozil first of all did not have the stamina to keep up for ninety minutes. Secondly, he didn't know how to control the tempo and pace of the game. We always lost those games in the midfield battle and it was because of Ozil and Khedira. Lack of skill and technique on Khedira and inability to physically cope and to control the tempo for Ozil. When we got guys like Isco and Modric we did way better. Isco and Modric have low center of gravity and can dribble in tight spaces, which opens up spaces in midfield because once you beat one man, another has to leave their position to come and stop you otherwise you'll get a free run and cover a lot of ground. The effect of their ability to dribble in tight spaces was that it turned the pressure and high press of the opposition against them, allowing Real the ability to attack and use their fast wingers and striker. Another thing that it helped with was you will notice thay Isco and Modric won a LOT of defensive and offensive fouls. Defensive fouls relieve pressure and allow the team to re-organize. It also gets the opposition players yellow cards because they stopped a potential counter attack. Offensive fouls obviously allow the team to attack with set pieces such as direct free kicks and crosses into the box. Even when Kroos came through, he isn't as good as modric or Isco in dribbling in tight places but he is very good at controlling the ball and passing in tight spaces. He is also good at controlling the tempo and rhythm of the game, which Ozil totally sucked at. Ozil and Higuain were nothing but stat padders. If you want to win the domestic league, you can use them. They will absolutely burry the lower level teams consistently. You won't drop any points. But if you want to win the UCL. Forget about it. You'll never win it. I think in all his time at Madrid Higuain only had 7 UCL goals, but he had a mountain of those domestically. Ozil was really good at cutting through defenses with his passes but big teams don't allow him the chance to do it, and he wasn't very good at finding that chance often enough to have an impact in those games. Sure, he was good against Barca but that's coz Mourinho figured out the formula to beat Barca after losing badly many times to them. Formula: High press when the ball is in their half to stop them playing out, take the ball, and blitz them with a high speed attack with your fast forwards. If they make it to your half, sit deep, park the bus if you have to, and hit them on the counter with your fast wingers and striker when you get the ball. That's the formula to beat prime Barca with prime Messi. Ps. Its probably the formula for Madrid to beat City in the coming semis seeing Guardiola is still using more or less the same tactics and playing style he used at Barca.

Of course you cant go for big transfers when you have already big names like Cr7, Bale,Benzema,Marcelo,Ramos,Modric,Kross

Theo and Hakimi didn’t play well for Madrid. Sometimes the white shirt is too heavy for some players. In the case of Odegaard, its a case of him not wanting to compete for his place with Kroos/Modric still playing. Ultimately their departure is good for all parties involved.

I think the author of this video does not understand the fundaments of European football outside of the UK borders. Those signings are not Zidanes, they are signed the board and management. Coach can propose or have wishes, but he is not signing, negotiating or anything else.

He is our best defender overall from last 2 seasons. He has tendency for brain farts in 2-3 games per season but otherwise is very solid especially in the big games. And always available. I would’ve put Alaba over him but Alaba had an extended spell of injury this season so it wouldn’t be fair to rate him higher.
