I was born listening to this song, and a typical Kenyan family knows this song. It was very popular in early 2000s in Kenya. I would wake up at 6am to go to school and hear it over my dad's radio. I heard it often throughout my primary school, and my mathematics teacher then, Mr. Phasdoh could come to class and ask "what shall we do?" 😂... That was in 2007...you know. Before then i used to sing "wacha wivu..." Instead of "what shall we do" so Mr. Phasdoh made me know the correct lines.

It is 22nd March, 2023, and am still humming to Todii. As a kid growing up in in Eastern Kenya, my dad affectionately loved Oliver's songs and he made me develop the same interest.
Hear me Lord … Help me Lord I'm feeling low. RIP
I’m from Nairobi and I remember visiting Harare two years ago, we used to go get coffee in this amazing coffee house and there was a lady doing a painting of Oliver in there, every day I looked forward to seeing her progress. Her amazing talent and this Man has stuck with me to this day. God bless Zim🙏🏾🙏🏾

Harry this is an old song by Tuku about the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa. Here in both Shona and English, he describes how the epidemic has devastated the social fabric of kinship relations and urges audiences to formulate a collective response to the epidemic

Why do bass players blend in the background so much rarely being shown despite our ears listening to their brilliance? The most we usually see are the fingers.
